Yes a great Aussie band we loved a lot. Robert and Grant did indeed have a Lennon/ McCartney kind of balance. Some less known tracks which are some of my absolute faves are "That Way", "On My Block" and "Don't Let Him Come Back", those tracks are all great!
Aw ,look at ol grant ,his in luvvy wuvvy wif amanda,Thank christ i wasnt there when they went through there "painfull separation" Broken hearts are for arseholes
seeing these videos over 20 years after becoming a fan of their music i, for the first time, get to see the people behind the music. they're beautiful and funny, and seem to genuinely love the act of even faking the music for the camera. go-betweens music is adult stuff, with the kind of craft you don't notice until you're mature enough to value economy, honesty. which isn't to say they don't have their flourishes, they are an orchestra unto themselves, but nothing ever seems unnecessary.

one of the most underrated bands. They will always have a place in my heart. saw them at the troubador in l. A and had a brief chat with robert. this is one of my favorites.
awesome f'n aussie band....i miss em.....grant is a look alike of actor ed norton....neh?....too bad he died so young...he had so much to give and live
Last year on the anniversary of Grant's passing they did a retrospective on ABC in Sydney, and i cried half the way home as i drove to the Central Coast, some for the passsing of a genius, some for what the songs meant to me at certain stages of my life, but mostly for never have had the opportunity to see them live. another greatly underrated Aussie band, like Hunters & Collectors. We do some absolutely brilliant music in this country that the rest of the world misses out on. bit of a shame
I know what you mean about "the rest of the world" missing out on Australian talent. i say the same thing every day here in the US. many times i've gotten lucky to find music like Replacements, Lucinda Williams, oh and your great Kasey Chambers. "Like A River." Wow........
Grant looks so genuinely happy here. :-) And Amanda Brown is the most beautiful woman in the world to as far as I'm concerned. Her slightly goofy billion dollar smile here wins me over every time I watch this. And all this brings me to one question...WHY weren't the Go Betweens bigger in Australia than they were?
I remember being 12/13 and sometimes allowed to stay up and watch rage. I had no real idea what alternative was, what indie was, I had no idea why EON-FM didn't play this every hour.
It's majestic, I discovered this entire band through this song, I probably discovered "other" music through this clip. I remember exactly where I was when I heard the news about GW.
One of my all-time favorite bands. They just wrote one beautiful song after another. So very sad to hear of Grant's passing, but he will live on in these wonderful songs. Robert and Grant were my Lennon and McCartney.
I'm not from Oz so I'm no expert, but to my knowledge they were always on indie labels, so naturally they probably weren't getting much airplay. Common occurrence for brilliant bands...
Saw the band a few years ago at the Big Day Out, Melbourne. It was one of the most memorable gigs I have witnessed. So happy to see them perform live. A truly classy act! Best Australian band ever!
you got a great performance from Grant when he's singing in the plain white tee. As with many other things, music videos work best when they keep things simple.
Great song!! Heard this song on NPR a few days ago. Took me back to highschool and trying to tape this song off of the radio for my latest mix-tape. I feel officially old now!

I still take this album with me on every journey I make. Thanks you, Grant. RIP
Amazing! I never even heard of The Go Betweens until I went to see Teenage Fanclub in Valencia last November and they were playing-now I'm hooked.
