If the package is poorly packed, blame it on the shipper. That box must have been thrown around when it was being sorted because if you didn't know, there's thousands and thousands of packages going around every day. The people sorting don't always look especially in busy seasons and are sorting boxes by "codes" and must do it QUICKLY. Him dropping the box accidentally from that height wouldn't have done anything unless the Sub Amp was not packed within another box in that box.
@cymrich. it isn't that you are ignorant, it is just that there is so much that you don't know. In largely populated areas and in peak season, UPS hires temps like you mentioned and will drop them off with packages to deliver at apartment complexes or other densely populated areas. This UPS employee is obviously not a driver, instead a temp... He is driving a gator delivering packages from a semi parked in a parking lot somewhere.
There is a LONG line at nearly any UPS location for driver jobs. People work years for crappy part time pay (which when I worked there a few years ago was $7 an hour) just for a chance to get a driver job which pays very well. Any driver that does not follow the rules will be replaced quickly!
it's a moot point here though as that person is NOT a UPS driver. UPS drivers are supplied with UPS brown uniforms, coats, caps (stocking and ball caps... their choice). UPS is very strict about their dress code and while some drivers may where the wrong color socks and undershirts occasionally, a driver that didn't wear the pants or shirt at very least would be replaced pretty quickly.
@crazy UPS drivers are allowed to leave packages at their discretion. If a package disappears it is possible the driver may be required to pay for it depending on the circumstances. Houses with semi enclosed porches like this one are usually considered safe to leave packages. apartment complexes are usually considered not safe.
@crazydavesemporium They are not required to get a signature, pretty sure if its like usps, they only req it if it is requested from the person sending the package at an extra charge, i should know this since i always just meet my ups driver at the door when i order stuff online
@Stealthxninjax I never said they were "required" to get one. But it does ensure that the package actually reached the right person. It's been my experience that FedEx tries less to obtain signatures than a service like UPS. Also FedEx doesn't seem to try as hard to find the right door or correct address than USPS or UPS.
my guess is that when you got it.... it still worked... and if it didn't, you (or the company that hired ups) got compensated for the damage. stop ya bitching bitch
Using UPS, Fedex, or even the good ole USPS, the same rules apply. When packing anything prepare it for a 6' vertical drop because chances are it will experience at least one of them. A typical UPS driver will be responsible for a minimum of 200 packages a shift to deliver on time or it's his azz. Don't expect them to care because if UPS doesn't then why should they?
