Ahh the smooth sound of Billy Griffin ,I have this Record Somewhere in my pyle.....I allways loved this Track smooth and Dreamy takes you to another level........A classic as well....................Candle light dinners and roses
Minor hit in the UK - reached 64 in our chart in 1984. Nice sound. This guy replaced Smokey Robinson as the new lead singer of the Miracles. He is underestimated I my opinion. Hold me tighter in the rain was a great track.
OMG!!! I never knew this was Billy Griffin of the Miracles!!! If I've known back then, then I must've forgotten!!! I normally don't forget the artists of certain songs that I liked. This was played in Washington, D.C. on 96.3 WHUR back in the day when I was also a teen!!! Great memories all around!!! Now that was REAL music!!!
I've loved this song since it was first released. I wore out the cassette tape replaying it! I can't believe that so few people know who Billy Griffin is. I love his music.
I am so ashamed! I told someone I made this song up. I was swearing up and down I did. I dont think she really believed me, but she conceded. (I was singing it, but it wasnt to her... I was just singing) Maybe I will call her. Nah. I will just post it right here. Wendy. No. I did not make the song up. LOL. Becha knew that.
1983/84, living in St Louis at the time, I so remember hearing this for the 1st time, & just falling in love with the beat, & Billy's masterful vocal. This is Soul--This is
heyroz , great song, I'm from Chicago, and I'm a singer- bassplayer, and I remember this from my younger days !! I liked it then , and I like it even more now, probably because of the lack of good music today !! Good find heyroz !!!!
That sax solo in the middle just brings it all home, very talented artist, this cd is hard to find, if you have the pleasure to find it, buy it, you will not be disappointed. Thank God my parents introduced me to good music like this...
there are (2) joints on the Do it baby album called "a foolish thing to say" and "we feel the same" that really highlight the wonder of BG's vocals. I think the world has really only experienced the scratching of his surface
@bama40nhc You have hit it on the nail He should have been up there with the likes of Luther Vandross and Lionel Ritchie. Sadly now almost forgotten unlike Smokey who will always be famous.
Ah an oldie but goodie! I remember listening to this song on my Walkman on the subway going to school in NYC. I'm really dating myself LOL . Thanks for the memories. :)
I remember this song when i was a junior at Boys and Girls High School in Brooklyn NY. He was the leader of the miracles after Smokey Robinson went solo. By the way it was a hot record.
aah...aah...i've been trying to find out whose this by now i know...i remember hearing this one and "'hold me tighter in the rain" on wbls's quiet storm some memories are joyful and some are painful
I have the vinyl LP when he was the lead singer for the Miracles (after Smokey went solo) "City of Angels" which was a concept LP (in the genre of What's Going On) where all the songs were intertwined to tell a story about a starlet wannabe...great voice, huge range, especially at the high end (tenor, falsetto, etc.)
I heard he had a new cd that came out last year with the title "like water" or something like that. They have it on Itunes. It's a really good cd they play a few tunes from it on Solar radio.
this song was a big hit in the 80s i was 18 at the time loved it the first time i heard it , shame someone nicked my record , thankgod for technology .
I remember the first time I heard this..on Compton's KJLH "Saturday Nite Jams" while I studied in a Cal Poly Pomona dorm room...I searched for this song for 20 years..this is the epitome of all that was good and pure in R/B..I miss it so...
Yes, this is the jam, love the saxophone solo...do you have "So Many Ways" That song is so cool. If you could upload it that would be cool. But thanks for posting this song!
