I havent tried this BUT there actually may be some truth to this.....DVD's/CD's are coated from the top, so scratched cd'd only have the plastic scratched. toothpaste contains microparticles that act like car polishing liquids, so I think that this may work. Ill try it out tomorrow

@darrylportelli I've tried this years ago and it did clean the CD but it still skiped but I guess it depends on how bad the Cd is. It could be just dirty or damaged. If it's damaged forget it and get an other CD

@coketherealthing for deeper scratches use a rougher cutting compound as they do on cars!!! use a rough car polish, it will have larger particles and thus act deeper. when I polish enamels (to do it cheeply) I first use metal polish, which is very rough, then move on to smoother compounds so you first 'create' scratches as deep as the ones already present (kind of, just tryin to explain) than remove the scratches gradually

Highly advisable to get a toothpaste with no fluoride in it for your tooth brushing by the way. don't use the tom's of maine fluoride free brand. Get another brand.
