How To You Get The Green Out The Background In The First Place?

There are a few ways it could've been done.

You can cut out an object using the magic scissors tool that detects edges on objects to make a selection around the object, then copy that select to paste elsewhere, or invert the selection and delete the background.

The magic wand tool captures all of a single or similar color for selection.
