@TheMusicjuice Here is how you tell! Find your PaP, then your rev rate, speed, axis rotation, and axis tilt at release. Then use the dual angle (google it) layout system to find your sweet spot and adjust it for heavier oil. If the pin in under your ring finger then, then yes it will.

Moral of the story, don't generalize layouts. Do them right and you won't be disappointed with your results.

I would just like to say that I believe that this is the best bowling ball ever made. It doesn't have the most hook ever, but it's so versatile and can be drilled so many ways that it's impossible not to fit it in your bag somewhere. I have 2 myself, one to go longer and have a later midlane read and another with the pin down to pick up earlier to open the lane up on heavy oil. The ball has tremendous pin action that I have yet to see from any other ball. It keeps the pins low and really mixes

@ DarkyBack did you get it redrilled for you? If you didn't then the ball could be on the wrong axis rotation for your style. And since you're 2 handed I wanted to ask if you throw the ball fast? This ball needs time to read the midlane before it makes it's move. Perhaps if you get that ball with the pin below your middle finger it will read the midlane better for you.

@momoruggy if you want a ball that hooks more i'd say the prodigy...the hy road on mid oil is simply the best bowling ball..when it hits the pins it sounds like it destroys them...and if you get it a little sanded it will be a very good ball for heavy oil too..i'm a 2 handed and my hy road has 2 years of playing and it still hooks like crazy..

my coach just gave me a hy road and i played on a wtba London pattern 44 feet and it just didn't hook..i'm 2 handed...my columbia freeze hooked a lot more...and he said he only played at the europeans and then he didn't play with it...the ball has 2 years...

this was my favorite ball of all time. when leagues came around this past winter, i bought the reign supreme to replace it...and it died, and i found my hyroad hiding in the locker and tossed it...and it is still a monster that hits the pins hard! it has SO MANY GAMES ON IT AND IT WONT DIE!!! I was thinking about buying the victory road, but i dont think it would replace my hyroad...so im going to order another one and drill it the exact same way!

This is like the bowling ball that wouldn't die. Other storm balls have come and gone, good stuff like the Reign, Virtual Energy, Invasion... they can't seem to quit making these even though they've come up with the Victory Road and Reign Supreme to try and fill the spot in the lineup.

I have this ball and have been using it on real wood lanes that are typically medium or dry oil and haven't had ANY luck at all with it....well...maybe that's about all I've had is a little bit of luck....could you recommend a ball that would probably work better with those lane conditions?

Im 15 and my coach for school told me to get this i average about 210-220 with my old ball with this one i shot over 250 every game, you throw it and it looks like it is not going to hook and at the end it snaps back into pocket and usually get a strike everytime VERY GOOD BALL

it anoys me wen people drill there balls for a late hard turn because the bowling alleys are increasing there oil ammounts and the companies are gonna be makeing les hooking balls so the way to go is to get it drill so its a hard arcing ball and has midlane reaction so it wont slid through the break point as much

I'm currently using the Ultimate Inferno. I've been using that ball for a while now and it doesn't hook like it used to. So I'm looking to purchase a new ball, and perhaps a better one. Bill O'Neil said the Taboo is the best ball on the market. Would you recommend that or the Hy-road?

@Airmaster167 First of all, Bill O'Neil is on Hammer's staff and the Taboo is the newest bowling ball on the market. He kind of has to say that.

As far as recommendations, a lot depends on your style. I absolutely love my Hy-Road, it was great. And then I got the Virtual Energy which I liked even more.

If you want something new, I just started using the Theory and Nomad Dagger and I have been impressed. I still love my Virtual Energy though.

i need some advice, ive been bowling for about 7 years, my ball is a storm reloaded, i got it for my bday as a hand me down but i didnt complain cause its a free ball, but its dead, my average used to b 190/200 area but its dropped 40 pins, i cant decide between the virtual gravity, virtual energy, or invasion. which one hits the hardest? ive also been getting a blister on the outside of my thumb...any advice???

@tom324546 It depends what oil your bowling on. If heavy oil get the Invasion, as it is Storm's latest ball and has the R3X Coverstock. If you are bowling on Medium oil, I would suggest the Virtual Energy, since it will react like the Virtual Gravity.

@tom324546 Concider visiting another pro shop with your ball to get their opinion on the drilling to see if there is anything there that may fix that. In terms of bowling balls i found that the virtual gravity was a fantastic ball however it didn't last, i live in the UK and it has really taken off here but everyone has had the same problem with the ball dieing off after about 2 months league bowling. I personally think the invasion is a good alternative to it as it will last longer.

I love my Hyroad. Its gets donw lane like a Pearl and has the backend like a Solid. Thats one of the advantages of having a hybrid civerstock. Great ball and Great vid

Actually he is right. It is not difficult to average 200 on a basic house shot. Now averaging 220-240, that is good, but 200 is literally nothing. I have been bowling for 2 years and I average 200. But he is right, most people just say hit my mark and bam its a strike. But what a lot of people don't do, is learn how to take revs on/off the ball, how to make it go a few extra feet so it snaps harder and takes your corner pins. And even those that average 230, cant shoot on a PBA pattern.

I would say the hy road if you drill it right. if your rev rate is above 400 drill it 5.75" pin between 350-400 5.25" pin 300-350 4.75" pin and lower than 300 drill about 4.25" pin

@iconz116 the 2nd dimension would be a great ball to complement you virtual gravity because the 2nd dimension is much smooter than the virtual gravity but it has a strong backend and the you'll be more constant with it. So you will have the perfect match beetwen consistency and power. I hope my comment helped you to choose your ball.

Yes, it does take some skill but there are more people averaging 200 nowadays who haven't a clue what they are doing other than saying to themselves "keep it to the right, keep it right". Those are the ones who barely average 150 on a tough sport shot or are totally lost at the USBC nationals.
