  • 5:14 Don't you just hate people who don't share? lol

  • childern of the night

  • Oh my god I'm such a dummy. I thought this guy and "Rienfield" later on the movie (The creepy guy) were two COMPLETELY different people. I forgot that in the book Dracula drives Harker mad.

  • the best dracula imo

  • It seems strange yet curious that in this film adaptation of the book, they've renamed Harker 'Renfield', who in the book is an entirely different character.

  • I quite like Renfield. A most unrealistic character, but then... so is Dracula, so I can not complain of course. This is the first time to watch this and it's vonderful so far.

  • Renfield has got to be the most annoyingly stupid movie character ever.

  • Man if only I could talk like Bela Lugosi! He is the absolute best Dracula there is or was in the matter as in I don´t know if any new Dracula movie are coming out. And poor Lugosi is dead sense a long time in 1940´s still he is the best!

    PS: FUCKING HATE TWILIGHT

  • Great!

  • @MegaMario133: For me....Bela Lugosi was suspenseful and superb for that time...while Lee was more menacing for the Hammer Films...both were great for their time...

  • the look dracula gives at 1:23 makes me giggle...ah, i love...

  • Listen to them... Children of the night... What music they make.

  • @SnakeMan227 Agreed...but the versions were great on there own right....The hammer films had great themes..and Lee was just awesome. The universal films are classics...I mean this is the movie that started the Universal Monster Franchise...and Bela Lugosi's role is just stuff of legend...He was indeed buried with the same cape he wore in this movie..So yeah..I like both the versions.

  • Bela Lugosi is best...forget about the rest...(Langella, Lee)

  • @MrCarl220: Agreed..Bela Lugosi FTW!!!!

  • @0707theone LOL

  • lol renfield

  • @secretcombination94 GO RENFIELD!!!!

  • Renfield, you idiot.

  • @jigoku66 GASP!!!!

    HE'S POSSESSED!!!!

  • Poor Renfield

  • Dracula Is Just A Novel.........

    OR IS IT????

  • WRONG ME! WRONG ME!....WRONG MY BRAINS OUT!!!! EEEEOOO!!!!EEEEEOOOOOO!!!! :)

  • @torr55555 FTW

  • @torr55555 Haha. Legend.

  • watching this on halloween would be the best

  • Bela Lugosi and Gary Oldman are the best Dracula's

  • Oh my God that stare...

  • @PSspecialist OMG!

  • "I am taking with me only three, um, boxes."

  • @easlesonavon LOL

  • It always throws me off when the names are jumbled up in the Universal and Hammer films.

  • "Captain dead, tied to the wheel..."

  • @rhall4th Poor Captain

  • Never again will Dracula be depicted in a way Bela Lugosi did it. Actors like this aren't around anymore. Dracula is Bela Lugosi and Bela Lugosi is Dracula.

  • @TheSwordedge Yeah

  • this is better than most movies made in the past 10 years!!!!!!!!!! Seems movies are going down hill!!!!!

  • @GloomFate MMM HMM

  • "I am...Dracula."

The way Bella Lugosi spoke that sent chills down my spine.

Thumbs up if you think Bela Lugosi and Christopher Lee are the best Draculas of all time..

  • @0707theone Thumbs Up

  • @cstoczyn Stop spamming man.

  • @PSspecialist Sorry, Can You Forgive Me?

  • @0707theone Who else but Lugosi could EVER pull this role off so well!!

  • @MrCarl220 IDK

  • Comment removed

  • @0707theone Lugosi had that creepy, mysterious aura about him that the minute you first saw him as the Count, you knew you didn't feel safe around him, and he kept you looking over your shoulders. I heard people actually fainted in the theater. Lee is a tall, imposing man who fit more of how the novel Dracula was. We need more vampires like this, and less wimpy-looking emo sissy vampires.

  • @0707theone i only think bela lagosi is the best

  • you know this was such a shock people fainted in the cinema when it was on show.

  • "Listen to them; children of the night. What music they make!" <-- I don't know why but that's my favorite line

  • Bela <3

  • so many awkward moments.

  • dracula is kinda funny even he's scary hahahah!!!!!

  • i was chatting with my friends, and i said that dracula is the greatest vampire movie ever. some evesdropping bitch across the restraunt came up to me and said that twilight was the best vampie movie ever. so i ate quickly, left. and when the bitch came out of the restraunt i jumped at her with a cape and fangs. she nearly shit herself.

  • I'm really sad to see comments mentioning Twilight. Seriously, this one is a classic, Twilight has nothing to do with it and I'm very sorry I'm mentioning it right now.

  • @0:05

    "I am.. Dracula."

    "...I bid you welcome."

  • do you have any nice commentary for this video,..? the nice one that i can put on my exaMS?

  • commentary of this Dracula,........ but this is somewhat horrirific eh,....

  • CLASSIC !!!

  • Thumbs up if, as is the case with me, this is just one of many monster movies you're watching in preparation for Halloween!

  • @Adamguy2003 Absolutely! I just finished watching the original Dracula on VHS tonight, what a masterpiece. Its almost Halloween too :D

  • @STONECOLD1987 I Understand

  • Being a vampire... really bites!

  • even just by mentioning "its" name you are degrading one of the best classic vampire movies of all time....pls give it a rest

  • Happy DIA DE LOS MUERTOS

  • Long Live Bela Lugosi!!!!

  • RIP Bela Lugosi

  • BOO!!!!!

  • Happy Halloween!!!!!

  • This is a real vampire. Not that wimpy crap that passes for vampires these days. There is only one vampire team kids. Team Dracula.

  • The first and the best!

  • @voivodvlad1 its not the first, nosferatu was but they just changed the names of all the characters of the book.

  • @candlemoth Granted, but the 1931 Browning version, for better or for worse, is still the touchstone by which others are measured. I've seen Nosferatu and it's a whole different animal, one might say.

  • @candlemoth RIP Bram Stoker

  • @candlemoth Long Live Bram Stoker!!!!!

  • @voivodvlad1 Yeah

  • Did anyone see 'Dracula Dead And Loving It'? Complete parody of this film. But very funny.

  • @AuroraGreenleaf Long Live Mel Brooks!!!!

  • awesome

  • @laugh2urself FTW

  • I can imagine a child Ed Wood watching this movie in a movie house. "This night won't can sleep."

  • The paper cut things! Twilight... you stole that of DRACULA??!! I would never have believed that....

  • @mereyland Me Neither

  • "Allow me..."

    *chucks coat at him"

    "Thanks!"

  • OMG! A plastic bat! *faints* lol jk. That was absolutely adorable. :3

  • Lugosi was the greatest Dracula ever but comparing the opening scene with Coppola's Dracula I have to say you really must credit Oldman for his portrayal as Dracula. He pulled it off very well :) (Copying Lugosi's way of speaking and gesture here and there). Nice!

  • Bela Lugosi is fantastic as Dracula. May he R.I.P

  • Maybe it wouldn't have been so awkward if he would have asked, "Hey Drac., when's the last time you cleaned your house?"

  • I remember seeing a documentary about the history of the Dracula movies in the early 90's. At the end if made reference to how films like The Lost Boys and Fright Night were expanding the vampire genre without Dracula, and then suggested "maybe he's just resting, waiting to be uncovered by a new generation of movie goers." They asked if someone who never really lived can ever really die, and played a clip of Lugosi saying "No, Dracula never ends!" Still gives me chills to remember.

  • REAL vampires live in castles with three wives. They don't hang around high school developing crushes on little girls and walk around with their shirt off half the time :-P

  • 3:46 That look is so... Scary. And yet Dracula seems so nice.

  • some parts took so long for something to happen i had to fast forward it lol

  • twilight literally raped bram stoker, dracula & all the vampires.. i miss these kind of real horror movies..

  • Bela wasn't even fluent in English when this was filmed. He mostly memorized the script phonetically. That's just freaking amazing

  • I think...'they' probably refers to the ...noob 'children' of Twilight LOL

  • Twilight is nothing THIS, THIS IS A REAL VAMPIRE MOVIE!!!!!!

  • @TwEunleashed1 Yep!

  • @TwEunleashed1 your'e right, twilight just tells a story about vampire who's fell in love with a human, this sucks blood and i like it,..

  • Listen to them! Children of the night. What music "THEY" make!

  • I don't give a shit whether he's Hungarian even though the historical Dracula was Romanian - no other man could've portrayed a vampire as well as Bela Lugosi!

Edward Cullen can BITE MY SHINY METAL ASS!!

  • Any vampires past Blacula suck and its not blood. Old school is the only school!

  • This is Renfield. No question about it. No one else can play him.

  • its funny how Draculas three wives walk in unison after Mr. Renfield passed out

  • This is the first time in mass media when a villain says 'exxx-cellent...' Later on, the villain Dr. Zin from Johnny Quest said 'excellent,' and the Keeper from the Star Trek pilot film 'The Cage' said 'excellent,' Egghead on Batman said 'excellent,' and Khan from Star Trek also said excellent. And of course Mr. Burns from The Simpsons says 'excellent' all the time. But this is the 1st time...a historic moment!!!

  • It's interesting how even in 1931 they were taking liberties. Dracula in the book is described as a tall old man with a white mustache, bushy eyebrows, pale as a sheet with pointed fingernails, pointy ears, sharpened teeth and a strong aquiline nose. He's also extremely talkative, which is quite funny.

  • Lugosi communicates so well with his eyes.

  • I love how Lugosi stammers when he says boxes

  • his eye browl thing is scary

  • Passing out over the sight of a bat or with a slug of wine.......I don't know about that.

  • Great movie, If I was in a old castle and ran into someone like Dracula no doubt I'd have chills up and down my spine and would find the nearest exit or make my own.

  • the book is exhilerating..

loads of changes from the book..

jonathan harker goes to transylvania..not renfield...seward is younger..no quincey morris...the guy who dies at the end killing dracula..the hunting party led by van helsing chases dracula back to his castle..and kills him...the book is a masterpiece..edward cullen is a shame to bram stoker's dracula

  • the book is exhilerating..

  • Kind of sad the way Drac treats Renfield so pleasantly at the start, only to give him the backhanded lackey treatment later on.

  • Wasn't the ship called "The Demeter"?

  • I'm reading the book and the differences are interesting. When the brides come in the book one of them almost bites into the guy, Dracula appears and literally hurls her across the room in anger.

Probably can't show that on the big screen though.

  • Well it's kind of a red flag inevitable reaction, sort of like when you are on a Billie Holiday video and someone brings up the subject of Amy Winehouse, or you are watching a Bob Dylan video and someone mentions Justine Bieber.

Oil and water don't mix and neither does Dracula and Twilight ;-)

  • I hate how so many people on here are hating on Twilight... its like the haters that search up a Justin Bieber song, just to tell people how much they hate him... lets talk about Dracula on Dracula videos, and Twilight on Twilight videos, ok? :D

  • @susannahdancer 18 year old girl...prime age for "Twilight" loving. What a JOKE...pussy boy fairy sparkling vampires. Okay...sure. Gimme old school.

  • if this film only had some pasty-white teen angst and high school bullshit it would be more palatable to modern audiences.

  • 3:46 I'd have pissed my pants and run for my life!

  • 8:57 Dracula looks at Renfield as if to say, "Whatever is wrong with you, its no little thing."

  • take that twilight, how can vamps and werewolves hate each other if dracula turns into a wolf?

  • @SebastianStudiosINC

The six-pointed star has many meanings, it's not the filmmaker's fault that it's only remembered as the "Star of David" today. Also, this movie was pre-holocaust, so people were less concerned about whether something could be misunderstood as "anti-semitic".

  • For a 1930's film, this has beautiful cinematography and great effects.

  • @SebastianStudiosINC It's a horror movie. If you can't understand a classic, you don't deserve to have "Studios" in your name.

  • @SebastianStudiosINC I think that's just supposed to be a decorative medal. Not exactly a real symbol of any sort. But it does look a bit like a star.

  • i like how he say iam drakula wauu))))

  • This is my first time watching this, and i can say that Bela Lugosi is quite the gentleman XD

  • STOP FUCKING MENTIONING TWILIGHT IN EVERY VAMPIRE VIDEO!

  • @shamwow56

thats right! and besides "Twilight' is A HORRIBLE MOVIE!!! It offends the vampire legacy!!

  • I admire Bela's look and dressing for this classic and magnificent film! If any vampire novel/film comes next to this, IT IS NOT TWILIGHT! It is Anne Rice's Interview with the Vampire. Her books pick up where Bram Stoker left off, and they have the same atmospheric humor and darkness to them as Dracula does.

  • I just love this man.Bela definitly was the best Dracula. There's only one way to say it. Tall,Dark And extremely handsome. My favorite Bela movies are: The Black cat,White Zombie,Invisable Ghost, the Return of the Vampire and of cource Dracula. He was a beautiful person.I wish I was up in heaven with him.

  • @sunriseelaine2003 I agree wholeheartedly. You look up pictures of him on Google and he was pretty swoon-worthy. If you ask me, he was the live embodiement of Dracula. After all, he was buried in the cape he wore as Dracula when he died. The poor man...it's a shame he died in poverty and working for Ed Wood (though somehow I can find humor in the latter part of that sentence)

  • The eyes of Drácula look like of a "toro loco"

"toro loco" = "crazy bull "

Excuse me, my english is so bad.

  • Dracula see the man like an "toro loco".

    XD

  • at 5:19 hes like "god damn it hes torturing me"

  • Büszke vagyok, hogy Drakulát egy magyar alakította ilyen legendásan.

  • @Narmianael Én is, főleg, hogy az egyik kedvenc filmem is lett miután végignéztem pár éve. Az akcentus hatalmas.

  • why did they switch Harker with Renfield?

  • Ahhh, the ring. Maybe Samara will kill you if you paused at 08:00 min. Don't hope so :D

Love Bela Lugosi !!! Much more authentic than Rob Pattinson.

  • @movienalle Hm... I don't seem to remember any vampires played by "Robert Pattinson." I thought he played a fairy in something recent. lol

  • "Listen to them. Children of the night. What music they make" One of the GREATEST lines in ANY film, ever.

I love watching the old, B/W classics on a, late, Saturday, early Sunday evening

  • 0:46 HOLY SHIT! my favorite part :D

  • He's so awesome!

  • As much as I love this movie, I think after about a minute or so alone with Dracula Renfield would be crapping his pants and running out of there

  • Béla Lugosi scares the cr*p out of me by just his stare, he is the TRUE and REAL version of a vampire. Not like the sh*tty new versions who make me LMFAO cuz of their gayness xDDDD

  • @GAMMAPOET yes he scares me too

  • @GAMMAPOET I know hes. When I read Dracula thats how I pictured it.

  • I found the subtitles in english, I found the subtitles!!! Now I can watch the film and understand everything!!! : )

  • i wonder why they chose to merge Jonathan with Renfield. i guess i have to watch more.

  • they should have check the weather channel lol

  • Hey look it`s hell`s angels or is that the 3 roses club? Lol!! ....Oh wait, it`s Dracula`s bitches! Lol!!

  • I've never heard of this film before. Have they made any remakes? Maybe it will be a classic one day. I'm only guessing. ;))))))

  • seven asshole don't like this great film. fuck off seven son of a bich

  • I am...Dracula

    I bid you..welcome

Listen to them...children of the night...what music they make

    I never drink....wine

greatest lines in horror history next to "it's alive!"

  • @iiAFX oh... remind me. where is the last quote from?

  • @iiAFX Fuckin' A.

  • Edward Cullen: (sees the Count) Who...who are you? Some uncool fashion designer? I can see the horrendousness of ur clothes. Your out of our time man. (laughs sarcasitcally, but the other man simply smiles. Edward suddenly feels a tingling feeling in his spine.)

    Dracula: I am...Dracula.

Edward: (falls on the floor and dies)
