the belief in 'karma' has mutated again in western mind so that people now believe in good and bad karma. there is no such thing. even in buddhism it is all bad. yet in sanskrit, it is all experience, unbiased by judgement. the whole thing is a koan, a teaching riddle. so often people believe themselves experts but they are fools. true spiritualists forgive & are forgiven. karma = sansara.

if I am punished in this life for the action of my past life, it is meaningless unless I can

(a) remember the past life and

(b) understand and agree to the punishment being a cleansing.

Yet we cannot remember past life's if we are still perceiving from within Sansara (conditioned/confused mind). So it is meaningless to be punished today for what I did yesterday.

Who is to judge?

only myself.

I forgive ALL.

then, only then, may I be enlightened.

only then may I achieve memory of my past life.

I agree. If this life is a punishment for past transgressions, then there is no point to it if I have no memory of the deed I did. A knowledge of ethics must be carried over from one life to another. But is this not what we call the conscience? I digress, as we must be able to understand why we are being punished for it to have any positive effect on us.

@SCROGY life is a punishment or enjoyment based on ur previous life. if u "took " too much the previous life, prepare to lose alot in this life. if u "give" alot in ur previous life, prepare to recieve the gifts of karma in this life....

@YTR0009 I am not sure what lies beyond death but I sure as hell don't want to ENSURE that it will be something bad for me. I try to do good because the concept of karma just might be true. I don't believe in any organized religion but I don't believe in being a bad person either.

this is bullshit. whoever wrote this does not understand Karma and has not researched. originally the word means 'cause and effect'. that is all it means.

the religious aspect has intervened and added an ethical context to govern peoples behavior. this mutation of the original teachings that we must be purified & cleansed by paying for our sins is not a part of original teachings. it is a social control method to keep people humble, apologising for our lives when we should be rejoicing.
