Hey DJ Rude, I've just got my CDJ 400 set and a SL3. I've got it all connected using usb cables to my macbook pro. I've connected it for the first time and stated up Serato but nothing seems to work. What do i do to tell serato i want to use my cdj400s as a midi?
Nice video. So I had an issue when I tried to use SL3 and CDJ's last week. I was testing out the CDJ's and I couldn't rewind a track to the beginning or load tracks on the right deck. All I would get was a loud beep on the right side. And then I must have hit something because on the left side it would go straight to the middle of the song (like a set cue point when I didn't cue it). How can I fix this for next time. I also use the Numark NS7 and am fine with that. Just trying to learn CDJ's.
hey i have a question; if i organize my folders by genre; and move them into serato as you explained in this video earlier; but then i download new songs later on and drag them into that folder; will serato automatically add them to the folder? or do i have to drag and drop the folder itself in there again?
and if i have to drop the folder in there again it wont make duplicates of all the tracks, right? that would suck if it did lol
@HouseJunk1e@HouseJunk1e That was last year when I bought the New Pinnacle Ultimate 12, I loved all the things I could do with the software, plus I had lots of spare time. Since then the economy has taken it's toll and I'm too busy working instead of having my crew do it for me so now my video intros are templated and very succinct...
Heey, i hope i'm not asking to much but could you please give me a (detailed) explanation about how i can setup my cdj 400's to be working in usb mode with serato sl-1 and so i can play regular cd's on te fly too.
i know this works with timecode but i just can't seem to combine USB mode with regular cd's, (i guess i am doing something wrong with my wiring, as soon as i connect to my cdj 400: the RCA's TOO the SL-1 interface and the USB to the pc at the same time i get some sort of distortion,...
well im just a beginner dj... & im using this M-AUDIO TORQ XPONENT... have you used it b4?... if yes... what can u advice?... thanx... & more power... =)
time well spent watching ur video! Q: can u reccommend any digital dj pools / sites that are serato friendly? and i just bought a pc with dual 320 GB internal drives. would u still reccommend an external drive 4 videos?
thanks a lot for the video I'm a newbie and I've being doing research, reading specs and reviews is one thing but seeing everything coming together is way better. this gives me a better perspective thx again
The difference is 5 years. The SL1 hardware was introduced in 2004, the SL3 was released this year in March. The software is the same except that the SL3 uses a 6 bank sampler within the software. The SL3 also uses 24 bit audio compared to 16 bit that the SL1offers. The SL1 is USB 1.1 and the SL3 uses the much faster 2.0 USB protocol. The SL3 has more inputs and outputs for a future 3rd deck and for recording your mixes straight to the computer.
The only way to use the effects is to use your CDJ-400s in timecode mode using the TCCDs, but then you lose the use of the display on the CDJ among other things. I never use timecode mode.
Thanks for the sub! No, it makes no difference. The SL1 will work fine as long as you have retained the timecode CDs that came with it. If you don't have them you can purchase them pretty cheap at Guitar Center, Sam Ash or most other DJ and music equipment retailers.
i have a quick question, i know that there were a few instances where depending on the setup sertato wouldnt let u use the mixxing features that the cdj come with, and would only let you do mixes using the mixer.... by setting up this way can i use both the mixer and the features that the cdj comes with?
this is my main concern and im not sure if the new serato sl3 fixed that issue or not.. either way great video and thanks in advance.
I have three HDDs in my laptop, a 320g that it came with, a 500 that I installed in the extra compartment and a solid state 128 that is stock part of this particular model (Toshiba Qosmio X305 Q708). I never ever have any "thermal" issues with any of my drives, including my three externals. Heat has just never been a factor. I keep them in a well ventilated area in my rack.
you forgot to say kuz i seen djs the way they turn it on and i tell them some they get mad but is the true is to turn on everything 1st thenn turn on the amp and when turning it off turn the amp off then the other stuff but good video mann kepp up the good work

The HARDWARE SL1 works with SOFTWARE SL3?
And what are the actual differences between the two hardware modules?

will the special effects built into the cdj400 still work? I know for the Pioneer DJs program it does not.

No, they do not.
RudeDog66 2 years ago
are you serious? the effects won't work?
so how can we use those effects?is there another
way we can connect the cdj400 so this feature cold be used?

but if you never use timecode how do you set get your cdj's 400's to play a normal cd if needed during your ''usb mode'' set?
i cant get usb and regular cd to work together (wiring wise)

I can see where you're coming from with using an external hdd, but they do get hot and I'd prefer not to use one as they're not so hardwearing.
The Ideal Scenario is to have 2 X HDDs fitted into the PC, but this is not usually possible with a laptop.

Looks like a Gaming Laptop.
I didn't know there was extra hdd storage space interally, I haven't got it in My 'off the shelf' laptop.
I'm from the UK, by the way.
