Proud to say I went to Palo Alto High fifteen years ago. These kids are articulate, intelligent, and thoughtful. I'm really moved by this.

It is a serious tragedy what happened with Larry King,and my heart goes out to his entire family.I also know that I am not the entire world,but for what it is worth,hatred,nor homophobia exist within me.I am accepting.Your work does make a world of difference,and I hope that it continues on and on without an end.Hate needs to be brought down,and Love needs to be preached.

I was going to say you're in denial. It is obviously a hate crime. The kid shot Larry King to death because he was gay, because he asked out this kid, and apparently he couldn't take it so he killed him. If that's not a hate crime, I don't know what it is.

But I see this discussion won't lead anywhere. I just think it's important that we take it for what it is for Larry King's sake. Nobody should be killed just because they are gay.

It is a hate crime, Brandon did not kill his bullies or lash out at those who laughed at him but targeted a homosexual person with his rage, this makes it different from other school shootings, in which generally people do not target the cause of the bullying but the bullies themselves. I dont think this child was wrong in anyway. He was in the 8th grade. thats a time period when most people start to try and figure out their sexuality. He may have "grown out of it". there is nothing wrong with Homosexuals. the child who shot him was not being harassed by Lary. asking someone to be your valentine once is not something to freak out about.say nah i am good and that would have been the end of it.the thing is see that is confusing me is who did the child get into school with a gun?

i see your point, but i personally think that killing someone is totally overdone.. go to the police or something, but killing is not necessary.. sex AND love are both very powerfull emotions, but everybody has to find a way to deal with it.. this is a kid, he has a lot more obstacles on his road to be an adult, and you can't kill anyone who's harassing you or has a chrush on you.. (or don't has a chrush on you) this is something he has to take with him the rest of his life..

I agree, It is very hard being gay in a small school. It's hard because even though I am sure that I am gay I am constantly being silence with fear of rejection or harrassment. You hear people making gay jokes and you laugh along but holy sh** it scares the f*** out of me!!!
