This gig in Bern was completely new to me, and I work there! It's so great to see this video, I'd given up hope of seeing these songs performed by Gabriel with the band. What a performer, what a voice. What a band! Thanks TommyGun.
this song make thing that there a lot of senses or feelings that human race don't feel o know b-sides this album change my life in a good way thanks GENESIS
The perfect song to end "The Lamb" with. I'm just glad this album and tour happened before Pete fled the "machinery". Lucky for us fans that this band was in debt. Thanks for post'in this great footage!
ALL the albums, lamb, foxtrot etc are like the soundtrack to my early yrs. REMEMBERING my mom and dad playing these w/ their friends, prolly fucked up on lsd, (hey, it was the early 70's in L.A.california)
Solo i Genesis potevano concludere un concept album con un brano così azzeccato....non poteva esserci brano migliore per terminare quest'opera! Brano tra quelli meno noti e sottovalutati, ma utentico capolavoro...
Watched Peter just blurred like that at the Ebert Halle in Ludwigshafen/Germoney back in 1975 :-) Was my favourite Double LP for 15 years afterwards...
Well I missed that show.. Though a friend of mine invited me at that time! I saw later (In Bern as well) Genesis with Phil Collins. Today I really regret I didnt went to THAT concert!
First of all, what is "it"? And secondly, does anyone know if this footage is actually from the show at The Shrine or is it just the audio with other clips edited in?
"It" can be interpreted as virtually anything and everything. I have, however, been working on a theory waaaay to complex to describe here, and should we trust me, "it" is Rael's genitalia, but also John. The genitalia bit matches well with the line "It is chicken, It is eggs, It is inbetween your legs", along with several more obscure references. The John part we have to jump back a few songs to explain, but that would take me at least an hour.
@remnrone I think the thing with the Lamb is that the basic "moral" of the story is very simple: Rael leads a life totally about himself and then faces a moment when he has the choice to put someone else before himself and he chooses to do so. The colourful details of the story, his encounters with predatory woman (The Lamia) etc are all in their own way comments on Gabriel's music industry experiences (Grand Parade) but the basic point is a very simple and traditional one.
The first time I saw Genesis was at the Roxy in Hollywood in 1973. The second time was at the Shrine in 1975. It was so much fun and such great music. Thanks for the trip down memory lane!
I was 10 when this was filmed and had barely heard 'Fragile' by YES at this point, thanks to my older brother giving it to me on 8-track. I had no idea about the great music that was in store for my life thanks to GENESIS, YES, KING CRIMSON, GENTLE GIANT...and did I say GENESIS yet?
OH yeah...and GENESIS This is incredible footage...THANK YOU!
as pg would say a picture paints a thousand words this picture is a snap shot of something very special that cannot be recaptured therefore it should only be caressed by those that care
I wrote in the video description that the video is from Bern, Switzerland 1975 but the audio is from the Shrine. I have the whole Shrine concert uncut and without the overdubs on a 2-CD audio set.
About that Shrine concert...The tape clearly did not run out as there are just too many copies out there. I suspect that the real reason that IT was rerecorded was due to Phil dropping a stick (listen to the drum error just after "It is hope for the dope"). My copy of the shrine concert (old 70's vinyl) has a fine version of Watcher of the Skies too! Keep up the good work Tommygun and all.
I the vinyl bootleg from the 70's from - I think - a canadian radio broadcast.
In some shows they'd have Peter on one side of the stage and a dummy dressed as Peter on the other side. And during "It" a light was flash on Peter real fast than back to the dummy. (Because of the split personality in the song.) It looked like Peter could trasnport. Wouldn't that be amazing?
Peter dubed a lot of his vocals on the archive set. But so did Michael Rutherford on this song and Steve Hackett did here and there as well. Peter did that to his live album which I never understood. You guys sound just fine the way you are/were! Again, here's a toast to Tommmay!
Hi TOMMY !! Happy Holidays my friend. WHAT A GIFT THIS IS!! Just got home from port for the holiday. YES< another Genesis GOODY from you as always! Thanks for the share! OPTAIN the whole thing!! PLEASE. We can LOAD it on the ship!!! Love ya, Lee xxxooo tahnskyou, thankyou, thankyou!!!
