Actually the first generation Pruis was a POS dude and this can't even go two whole miles and pure electric was junk seriously buy a golf diesel and loose the ugly duckling junker .
I have heard of people getting over 60 mpg with the new design. I like it and the trunk looks like a nice place for some golf clubs. I might get one with the optional alloys when I am next in the market for a car.

the batteries issue have been addressed many times now. and you better take a look at top gear's new prius road test, especially the 2nd last paragraph of it. remember how those guys hated the prius and criticised it for basically everything? especially the battery issue?
Actually, Toyota says that they recover 95% of the batteries in the Prius when it is scrapped and the batteries are then reused in other things. Also, the plant in which the Prius is made is extremely Eco friendly, it runs on 50% solar power, lights are turned off when not in use, and the paint even emits oxygen in exchange for C02 (im not kidding, i have no idea how they did it.)
What car's engine isn't a little load when pushed. Excellent mid-sized car with great fuel economy. He was supposed to evaluate the car, not just criticize it.
In years to come people will look back on this heap as the scam it really is. Dont buy one.
