Hmmm... Anyways. If anybody still uses the TX2 you should google K10STAT, download it and run it. It's a bit technical, but you can use it to set various power-modes. So the CPU uses more power and becomes faster and set it to low power, so the CPU uses less power, becomes a bit slower, but battery lasts longer.

You could also install WinXP if you prefer, but it only supports one finger touch. Win8 runs wonderfully on it though.

@GreenCoffeeMonster I would reccomend the Tm2 if you don't mind the hassle of carrying a external disc drive for when you need it. If your going to get a tx2 Iwould reccomend a 1300 series model they are much better then the older ones. The tm2 has a better graphics card. Cons the culv intel processors on the tm2 only go up to 1.6ghz which is prettymuch a bit faster then the fasts processor on a tx2.

@djdevil009 yes, it's capacitive. The pen is a digitizer. You can't use anything other than your fingers and the given pen. The screen is glass, not the soft plastic one.

Get the tm2. It doesn't overheat, and even though it has a ULV C2D, it actually runs faster than this one.

@EliScorch Actually compared to the best TX2 its slightly faster then the AMD turions. My TX2 runs fine and doesn't overheat just make sure you aren't blocking any important vents.

Yes, it should be able to handle it. My older laptop with lower specs handled 3D max, I don't see why this one won't.

I have one that I use for drawing. Its weird, sometimes it'll render just fine- then some times it lags. Maybe its just mine. Another thing, GET A CHILL MAT. This thing gets pretty hot real quick.

Well, I think you'd still need a mouse because I don't think touch would replace the 3 button wheel for zoom and other options on autocad. It's easier with a mouse.

Maybe they'll make a 3D program that is touch friendly later.

there is also a handwriting program where you can create your own font and then type in your own handwriting..which i found to be pretty interesting! my school uses lenovo computers/tablets but i should be getting the new model of this computer tomorrow!!! i am so excited!!!

Performance is great...if it's not broken.

As much as I love my laptop, it broke twice in the 3 months I owned it. Sent it back once and now it's broken after the windows 7 upgrade. I've never broken any of my other laptops before...this is my first HP.

I don't know what I would have done without the HP warranty!

Try to find a GPU-Z that's 55nm not 65nm - that's the one that makes the difference in heat and noise.

First off they're selling this laptop now with Windows 7, but it's home edition, and all the youtube videos they show this on either vista or Windows 7 professional, so would that be a big problem? I do not have windows 7 yet (frustrated because of the delayed upgrade) so I can't tell you the difference between the home and professional.

I know I don't really need an HDMI port, but the eSATA on my last laptop (which was an HP that I had to return because of early problems) was very handy, especially since I had everything on an external hard drive, using the eSATA port made moving things VERY fast. What do you think? is it worth getting this thing? I found the new one 500gb with windows 7 home edition for 1029 Canadian dollars from Costco. I really like having eSATA and HDMI though.....

I don't know how that converts to usd, but I got mine for 799 dollars with 500 gb. Make sure you get 55nm not 65nm GPU-z because that makes the difference in the noise and heat.

1029 is probably around 940 USD, but it's still a decent deal. Canada's more expensive anyway, but I'm just wondering if this thing is worth getting anyway. I don't really need it for it's features, but it just looks so damn cool! haha, but I guess my only issue is no eSATA and HDMI port.. This is a tough one to choose

does the tx2 have a glossy lid like the toshiba satellite L305D has? i was just curious because i have one of these toshibas and they are good machines but its just that it picks up fingerprints like crazy and it kinda bugs the hell out of me but in all i like it compared to my Dell dimension 2350 which is like dirt old and it still runs on xp an it can hardly handle xp like it should be able to do but cant. but all of that side, like i was saying earlier, does the x2 have the glossy like lid?

Semi glossy. Yes, it picks up fingerprints, but you won't see it when you turn on the screen. Barely noticeable, at least for me. But when the screen is off, you'll see the prints.

As for the lid cover, yes, it super glossy. They put a design on it so you won't see the finger prints as much.

ok thank you. i wa just curious cuz i was watching some reviews of this laptop and i coouldnt help but to knotice whether the screen was glossy or not. it doesn really matter to me though because i think that its a really great computer but i just dont like when it picks up all these fingerprints because it just makes it look unattractive. but that wont matter to me though because with the features ive seen on that computer, ill just get it anyway :)

I don't have the plan. I only got the free one year warranty that came free with this. Free replacement, fixes and support even without the protection plan for a whole year. If something is to go wrong, it'll probably happen the first year.

windows vista and windows 7 are two different operating systems. Windows 7 all though IS BASED off of vista it is NOT an upgrade. you will need to buy windows 7 like any other OS and it will replace vista unless of course you dual boot, but you would never do that, .......forget vista its the past windows 7 is the future.

and no you dont need to "uninstall" vista per se but you need to back up your data and then when you install windows 7 it will over write vista.
