dude thats not why it happens its because of the aimer system, if u take a turret and walk as close to a wall as possible the turret aimer will go up a little.the bullets will hit wer the aimer is though the gun isnt pointed there,in this snipe the aimer was on his head but the animation showed the bullet hitting the ground infront of him while going up but it didn't.

My favorite moment (sniping-wise) was unloading a clip into the enemy base and getting a kill with most shots, but for some reason (mostly, cause I'm an idiot) I was moving TOWARD the base at the same time, so an enemy player got in under my guard. I dropped out of scope-mode just in time to squeeze off my last round, and BAM! Clean through the head, plus he was jumping at the time, so he did a lazy, dead backflip. It rocked!

This isnt Recon worthy! The bullet completely missed, the only reason he died was because the reticule was red when he pulled the trigger.

Sometimes the game gives the kill if the reticule is red but the bullet actually misses. The bullet always follows the line at the center of the reticule as shown by the small dot that appears when you aim at the head, however if only one side of the reticule is on his head the kill will still be given because the reticule is red, despite the fact it actually missed.

The same thing happened here, only he moved backwards as he shot so the bullet bounced off the floor in front of him, yet the kill was still given. Its called autoaim and is the same principle as to why, annoyingly, rockets and grenades predict were the enemy is going to be.
