Edward G Robinson certainly knew his stuff when it came to art. If you look at the closing credits for Lust For Life he's mentioned as a technical advisor.
It seems hard to believe it, but...Edward G. Robinson somehow managed to encapsulate my thoughts on Andy Warhol pretty expertly in his conversation with the building climbing Dynamic Duo. And my brain hurts just thinking that.
Sorry I forgot about that one, yes that's another good one! He had so many good movies, it's a shame the only ones I have left are his gangster movies.
The only give-away that this is fake has to do with the way the persons body is coming out the window. Its almost horizontal and not vertical, as it should should be vertical.
they filmed those scenes so cheap because all they did was flip the scenery to the side. in reality they're just walking on normal ground. edward g robinson did his part by popping out of a window in the floor. notice how in every batman where someone confronts them on the side of the building they hold the window open with one hand.
Gotham City is not identical with New York, but a ficticious town from the DC universe with many similiarities to New York. But "Gotham City" is also a nickname of New York.
What a fun clip! many thanks for sharing it with us! I'm glad the producers made use of the late great Eddie G's renown knowledge of art for his cameo appearance instead of taking the easy way out & have him appear as some "tough guy" gangster. What would REALLY be cool would be to see Peter Griffin of Quahog, Rhode Island pop out of a window...after all, Adam West later in his career became the mayor of the East Coast city.

@Cool2BCeltic I'm not sure I agree with Mr. Robinson on that. To me art is everywhere. In a woman's smile or a can of tomato soup.

Robinson was an avid art collector, and they probably asked him to just talk about something he liked...and doesn't it show!

Edward G. Robinson...
Smooth as silk, even in campy cameos. Gotham never had it so good.
When this guy played evil, it was like broken glass down the nape of your neck.
And you never wanted it to stop.

It's been said before - Batman is Pop Art. Campy as hell, but part of our culture.
I thought it funny & surreal that they could have a discussion with Edward G. Robinson about art while " climbing up a building.

There are no small parts == only small actors. Mr. Robinson does wonders with this famous cameo appearance opportunity.
