  • ich bin nienmand ^^

  • Saw them for the fist time in 1994(?) when they opened up for NIN. Pretty cool for my first real concert. I still have their CD that I purchased a week later.

  • This song is really amazing, and this band really impressed me when I saw this video a few years ago on my TV.

  • well yhe video is basiicly a stab at there old record label, they aremaking fun of certain bands

  • there is no Boosh without PWEI

  • BA BA BOOSH!!!

  • They should release this again. Its perfectly fitting for todays society.

    PWEI are superb

  • Welcome to a state where the politics of hate

Shout loud in the crowd "Watch them beat us all down"

There's a rising tide in the rivers of blood

But if the answer isn't violence, neither is your silence

If they come to ethnically cleanse me

Will you speak out? Will you defend me?

Freedom of expression doesn't make it alright

Trampled underfoot by the rise of the right

You owe us....Ich Bin Ein Auslander

You owe us everything... Ich Bin Ein Auslander

  • These guys influenced so many...

  • why the comparison?

  • I like Rammstein a lot, but you can't really compare these guys to R+. For a start, this isn't Industrial Metal.

Btw does anyone else think this looks like The Mighty Boosh? :D

  • rofl... now that you mention it... it does remind me alot of something you'd see on The Mighty Boosh

  • "Ich bin Old Gregg"

  • @samsta2 hahahaha yes eels sort of but im with ya on that LOL

  • I'm pretty sure that the name of this song is translated: I am an immigrant. That's what me dad told me and his German.

Sadly enough, I can't speak much German.

  • it literally means "I'm of a foreign country", I think, but basically it means "I'm a foreigner".

  • I thought it was "I am a foreigner,"but same thing...

  • Auslander (Ausländer) = foreigner.

Pop is an insult for good bands and to me it equals "always the same, boring, no imagination"

  • I accidentally ran into a German version of the gummy bear song, while looking for this.

It's hard to take anything seriously, after seeing a dancing gummy bear.

  • The chorus: "You call us ....?"

    Anyone?

  • Yea, its "You call us...Ich Bin Ein Auslander".

  • yeah Ich Bin Ein Auslander. I am an outlander. Roughly translated

  • bnp = that sucks

  • It happened. The UK voted into Europe the BNP. Welcome to the wave of the new Right.

  • get a german dictionary..its.."i am a foreigner"

  • lol..awesome..i remember this video..the lead singer kind of looks like the brandon lee as the crow on acid..and the video set with the giant cardboard guitars makes me think of information society's video for "i want to know"..great song..

  • This song must be considered pop metal or whatever, I guess. It does fit both genres by sound and lyrics. Just my opinion. And I hope me and my band can be like them some day in the future.

  • KINGW0604 why must this song be considered pop metal??? In case you haven't noticed, the bands name is Pop Will Eat Itself, so i wouldn't consider them "pop" anything. In short, it's impossible to pigeonhole the Poppies. You say this song fits both genres, pop and metal? Michael Jackson was known as the king of pop, but i don't recall any of his music sounding like this do you?? This certainly is not pop.

  • My understanding of "Pop," is simply that of a popular formula and structure for writing music. This tune certainly qualifies.

No...They aren't Madonna or Michael Jackson. Not even remotely...But they do make good use of "hooks," "choruses," and "verses."

    "pop" isn't a bad word...

  • I disagree. Pop IS a bad word.

The Cheeky Girls, Timmy Mallet, Steps, S Club 7.

All pop acts, is that because they all have a popular formula and struture for writing music?

I don't think so, i think they're classed as pop because they were popular and hence all had number 1 hits.

The Poppies think Pop is a bad word and would be cringing thinking people class them as pop.

Pop covers a wide range of music but this is not pop............at all.

  • They are Grebo end of discussion

  • Placebo is considered Pop so was David Bowie back in the day. The meaning of Pop music has mutated greatly over time. Nowdays, it stands for some boy band like Backstreet Boys (more like aging men) who jump around on stage while singing about kisses and hugs, and fluffy teddy bears. Back in the day, Pop used to a have meaning. It wasn't bad. Now it's just horrible. I used to speak to Clint Mansell online a number of years ago. He's a very cool guy. This is a great song that I always enjoyed.

  • Clint is GOD!!!

Somene who composes something like: 'LUX AETERNA' is out of this world !!!

  • @Asigron When I heard this song, by accident, some 15 years ago.... I knew deep inside that this composer would become famous one day.... I just did not know that it would be with Requiem for a Dream.

  • @GeorgeV6v24 I agree with you....he is also great in films 'Smokin' Aces' and 'Moon'.

  • a pretty cool guy who does'nt affraid of anything.

  • @UberPlaceboFan : "Pop" does and always has meant "popular" music; what the people are buying. Nothing more. What's funny is that PWEI's name has proved true; the music industry has more or less imploded under it's own bloat. Artists should be producing and distributing their own music digitally; recording equipment that was once prohibitively expensive just isn't anymore. One can buy a complete home-studio for well under $10k... Learning to use it, tho, is another matter.

  • When I read about these dudes on different internet sites, this album in particular was considered Industrial Rock and Industrial Music. Though, I don't know much about that type of music.

  • The bassist is racist? Yeah my arse!!!

  • The basis is racist. :P

  • You know that we must face this.

  • It can't happen here.

  • Zappa!

  • Man songs like this had an edge to them that is sorely lacking today. The best message songs are the ones that don't beat you over the head with it. Like this one. Now any songs that are considered "edgy" are just "I hate Bush" and "I hate capitalism" Rage wannabes. And now that he's out what are all these political punk bands going to do now? Write songs about how much they wanna suck Obama's dick? Well you got change guess you'll have to stop making music.

  • *THUMBS UP* Feeling every word dude!!!

  • I agree, that's what made SOAD so huge

  • Creepy video clip....it gives me the chills tell you that....

  • Oh, ah, it may be best to know - those who do not know German - "Ich bin an auslander is: I am an outlander" My apologies if this is redundant. Seems to be pertinent today.

  • *outsider

  • True dat - I mispoke. Thanks for the correction

  • Dude its not "outsider", ausländer is just like the swedish "Utlänning" which means foreigner. So in English it is : "I am a foreigner" and in Swedish: "Jag är en utlänning" and in german: Ich bin ein Ausländer.

  • "Welcome to a state where the politics of hate shout loud in the crowd-

Watch 'em beat us all down- there's a rising tide on the rivers of blood,

but if the answer isn't violence neither is your silence...'

  • fuck ya

  • Anyone remember downstairs at Looney Toons at The Dome in Tufnell Park? They were the good ol' days...

  • I was just looking on google for looney tunes!

whatever happened to that night. I stopped going once they started playing teeny bopper music

  • And since 9/11, the white supremists have had a field day spreading their fear of immigrants around, and its disturbing how common talk of illegal immigrants and borders are being openly talked about in the news... It's like Germany in the 30's...

  • Man, this video brings back memories of dancing all the fool up in the Dome Room in Chicago back in the mid '90s.

  • PWEI was SO good in concert too. When we interviewed them, we suggested that they release a single that had the track components to allow other to sample or DIY remix. Too bad they didn't listen to our sage advice. They were really nice dudes though.

  • "This is what music video's look like when you are a dog." It's almost true.

  • lol thats from beavis and butt-head

  • This is where I first heard the song at age 10 lol

  • i havn't heard pwei since i was real young. im soooo glad other people remember these guys. they will always rock hard

  • I haven't seen this video in YEARS! Good to see it!

  • I only know like 5 other PWEI fans good to know there are more.

  • i've only recently discovered PWEI so i'm probably the youngest person watching this vid!

  • how old are you?

  • i'm 21

  • Haha. I'm 14.

    I win.

  • lol cool

  • Yeah, my dad introduced me to their music.

    I love it.

Way better than all the shit on the radio now.

  • I'm 13 years old, I win you all. (=

    PWEI rules!

  • You suck.

Lol. I was gonna be the youngest.

I think it's awesome that kids our age like them. Definitely not many do.

  • Listened to it when I was 12. Beat ya. ;-)

  • beat ya:11

  • Ok, guess I'm an "Old Fogie" if you guys're all seeing who was youngest when they first listened to PWEI, cuz I was in my early twenties! Great memories, and I still listen to my "Dos Dedos mi amigos" CD! :-)

  • At least it has a message.

  • Me no fear the reaper!
