This song is amazing, but even better when you listen to it in the context of the album rather than the song as a single. the distortion song before, Exit Does Not Exist sets up the smooth sweet sadness of Talking Shit About a Pretty Sunset. The song is darker at first, but then becomes quite moving.. and joyful actually. and after leaving your breathless at the end, its picked up immediately by the sweet and sad song Make everyone happy,/mechanical birds and ends us with space travel is boring.

It's a hellish pseudo-dance song which is comparable in scope and scale to Radiohead's Idioteque, but is much, much angrier. For more subdued, depressing stuff (which I think modest mouse does best), try Bankrupt on Selling, Styrofoam Boots (It's All Nice on Ice), Lives, and the Good Times are Killing Me (I'm a 'hardcore fan' but I like all their stuff)
