get a friend and make yourself a clan game and make sure the max is 2 people (you and your bud). after that just make a ctf game and just capture the flag and watch your points skyrocket. Thats what i do and i get usually 240-256 points per a 10 min game.

Im too lazy to get the points the normal way =P

That icon is the talk icon. When someone is speaking the icon will appear along with the name of the player speaking. I don't know about the PS2 but on Xbox 360 the dot that represents the speaker will also flash on the mini map
