i LOVE how this is so completely different from the studio version, and yet they are both amazing! it's like, I could listen to the CD and be completely content, but to know that this is how the song happens adds a whole new level of awesome to it :)
If Chris Martin takes inspiration in Radiohead and so does Patrick Watson, then of course the two will have similarities in their style and range, just as other musicians from the same generation emerging in the early 2000s. Though their vocals do have resemblances, I still find that Watson's voice has a unique signature by the way he pitches those lyrical high notes in songs such as "Lucious life" and Karkwa's "Le Compteur" .
this guy makes me happy because he is the real deal, the full package. Video killed the radio star, but at least YouTube will save musical styles that have been forgotten.
LoL this is 'nothing like coldplay' terraky? And the moody blues is "nothing like" the beatles? If the music isn't outright similar, they are sure as hell in the same neighborhood considering the spectrum of existing music.
@sillyphilosopher Coldplay is the first connection my mind made during this performance. obviously they differ some in style and direction, but the resemblance is uncanny, especially in the vocal range.
@skyalchemistblue exact same thing came to my mind, however coldplay being my favourite i have to say no one can reach them in my mind.. this guy is great though i just discovered him
@DJMagoy ahahah james blunt... totally lol... But maybe someday we'll be a majority! COuld this be due to the kind of belief we have? Like for myself I believe in no specific religion but I believe in god, and I think atheist's just a wrong mistake driving us apart. What do you think on your way?
@Oxtrack26 Yeah maybe... I don't know but believing in God or having a deep spirituality seems to be linked to having a great sensivity (in the good sense of the term). I for myself am Christian, catholic, but don't take me wrong, because I too find pretty amazingly dumb how many American catholics think. What I mean is I DON'T think alcohol is a sin or such because that is NOT part of the Bible (only inebriation is, or the things it makes you do) ... and so on with many other things.
Oh get over they do sound similar and thats why I said COldplay would love to sound like this. Cant deny the similarity though. And yes I agree this still more sophistivated to use your term.
Please come do a trade with me on the inner harbour here in Victoria. I have a front line venue where you can do and blast your soles with a happy day. Fun good beers Love you guys and all your artistic noise. Fifty guy James says don't burn out don't do unnatural u r super stars
Stop comparing Patrick Watson with Coldplay!! This is completely different! Patrick Watson is more sophisticated with an incredible voice, an original style and amazing sound effects.
I'd compare him more to Jeff Buckley than to Coldplay. Patrick Watson has an amazing voice. The tune he did for Cinematic Orchestra is just the most delicate piece of music ever!
Yeah, there are parts of both of them there. Vocally he mixes the two... It seems like he likes to live in the dissonance a bit like Buckley did as well.
i hate when they are compared to coldplay.. if you watch pat on tout le monde en parle.. he says he never listens to them anyway. So there you have it. dick
His voice kind of reminds me of the guy from Coldplay here and there. The only difference is that I like Patrick Watson and I don't like the guy from Coldplay.
this is epic

Everytime I hear their talent I ponder, thinking "And James Blunt is on the radio."
Shame.
I guess that's the fate of true artists to be enjoyed by the minority... It makes the whole thing more precious in a sense.
