@brraatt Dude, I agree its nothing but negative hating on every damn vid it makes me want to punch someone in the face. Just sit back and enjoy watching a great lifter do his thing. Its the judges job to worry abt squat depth not anyone on the net. 100% of the ppl saying anything are not half the lifter he is and prolly not qualified to an oppinion either way.,
@TheTrueFortress I agree, but you have to realize that it's pretty damn hard to break parallel in a squat suit. Either way, gear ruined powerlifting big time... along with the 100 other things that you mentioned
If it's too difficult to legitimately break parallel in a squat suit, the squat suit is not appropriate, period. I respect Shawn. As a powerlifter myself, I know the hard work required to get anywhere, but this depth is laughable. And you are correct: Equipment ruined the sport. Who knows anymore which was is up?
When you have guys benching more than they squat and lifters under 220 totalling WELL over 2,000, well, what the hell. Something smells real fishy.
If you follow the base of the frame of the monolift, it should be obvious to you that it is parallel to the ground. Simply place that same line on top of Shawn's patella (kneecap), and you'll see that he is just barely breaking parallel.
I know it is amazing to move these weights. And I know that bench pressing +700 when you weight less than 200, even with full equipment, is incredible since you still need to hold the damn weight. But geez I cannot get over the fact that their bench press is hugher than their deadlift.
@ToquiGambit i cant get over the fact that the bar started at my hip height! the main 2 reasons for the deadlift being lower is strategy and equipment. powerlifting is all about lifting the most weight at the lowest bodyweight. most pull sumo because it is more legs basically. the more leg muscle you have the bigger squat too. conventional adds a lot of mass. so if you have a high squat, you just have to worry about sumo. plus the better bench gear with smarter lifters and shorter achieve more.
Show some fucking respect...you could put on every layer in the world and still not carry Frankl's jock strap...He is the best in the world at what he does wich is 2ply APF and IPA lifting..so either shut the fuck up and lift where you want or put on the gear and try to beat him, no need to disrespect some one who trains and is as talented as Shawn!!!
Too bad Shawn, like most now, doesn't squat correctly. He was high, and he move about 6 inches because he's practically in a split. I wish there were most squatters like Kaz, Don, Capt. Kirk, Anello, Noren, Dr. Squat, etc. (U know, in a single ply suit, belt, and wraps, feet a little over shouder width apart (or close stance), and parallel or below)
For the millionth time you cannot judge depth from the front - even the most inexperienced powerlifter is supposed to know this when seeing a squat. Why you ignore this is inexcusable if you pretend to know what you say you do. I'm no big fan of multi-ply powerlifting, but it's a part of the sport, and he competes on a level field. Hatfield, Kaz, etc were indeed great lifters, but so is Frankl - knowledgeable fans don't compare them. If this is your attitude, please never comment again.
@Alfredkickedcock Of course. But I'm talking to lilsuperman87 here who is comparing Frankl's multi-ply wide squat to Kaz's or Hatfield's comparatively raw ones, and saying that he was high when three APF judges passed his lift (Zenzen is a side judge and he's liberal, admittedly). Mile-high squats are obvious in any case, but judges in front don't call depth because many good squats 'look' high from the front, even below-parallel ones, unless you really bury them like in USAPL-ADFPA or such.
putting your feet out wide like that is just the smart thing to do. more posterior chain involvement, and a shorter ROM
no reason to lower the weight, just because your doing it a way that is more difficult, and he was not high. hips break parallel with knees and your there...that was there. you have to see from the side, not the front to truly see depth.
He didn't really squat

what ever happened to getting parallel??

Zero qualifiable depth, man. What the hell is THAT? Strong dude, but let's keep it real, can we?!
All this gear, monolift, ultra-wide stance, drug use, and shoddy depth/judging is really killing any credibility this sport might have.
No offense to Shawn, but without all the above, he'd be hard pressed to total 2,000. Likely MUCH less. What does that tell ya?

That was nice, I don't think he could've gone too low because not all parts of our body can handle that much.

Terrible angle to judge squat depth from.

Do a quick search for squat precision
where detecting perfect, legal squat depth for ANY federation has become an exact science.
Benching341 2 years ago
Correct, in den US youre allowed to suqat WAY higher than in Europe, even in the same Devision
Thats one reason why no US Lifter comes to WPC Worlds when they arent held in the US, and why European Lifter are squatting way more than "at home"
BUT, the lift is good, and why you should make it heavier for you than it is.
Everybody in this devision can squat that high, but even than you have to squat a 1000lbs
But no question Eddy, Kaz where great squatters...
BenchBrandi 3 years ago
USAPL requires good depth.
Alfredkickedcock 1 year ago
That's just the way he squats, comparing that and single ply or raw lifting is like comparing apples and oranges.

You can if the squat is very high. If it's borderline, no...but a mile high squat can be seen from the front.
