My 22 yr old son became addicted to his Ritalin after 10 yrs and died after he lost control of the drug that he called a curse. I regret it daily. These are amphetamines that actually do damage to the brain and can cause heart defibrillation and heart attacks. The sad part is they are so easy to get and doctors never warned us how addictive they are. This is a schedule 2 drug. Read the FDA warnings now. Some students are willing to take the risk. God help you. Just do your best.

Why do people think there's a reason for cracking down on enhancement drugs. There's a difference between professional athletes participating in a private competition - and then there's students in school studying in the real world. If students can increase the amount of information they can learn by taking some pills - then they are doing a better job by taking the pills. This is superstitious fear of technology and human achievement. Like Prometheus being punished for stealing the gods fire.

Believe me when I say this: Modafinil has changed my life. I am a medicine student and I also have a job to pay for my carreer. I have never ever been able to study so hard, with so much energy until now. Besides this, I feel great all day long AND my job performance has also improved. Modafinil does not have the dangerous collateral effects that Ritalin does, such as cardiac symtoms. So folks: hell yes!...this baby works.

I've overheard a student talking to another student about performance enhancement and how to take the drugs based on his experience. It was being abused to alter the competitiveness, leaving non-drugged students at a disadvantage. Ritalin was only one of the drugs that he mentioned.

well i've had trouble with dyslexia for about 19 years, my G.C.S.E in school was like G grade on most subjects lol but now im hitting grades like B's its crazy and its even more crazer to think of how good it work on people with good reading skills lol but what i take is PIRACETAM & CHOLINE they 100% EFFECTIVE PLUS THEY ARE SAFE e.g no liver problems no head pains no staying up at night lol

All of the activities you list have functions fundamentally different from those of smart drugs. It's like saying no one should play football because you like to bike and drink wine. It makes no sense. What are the arguments? I'm not saying a life without smart drugs is impossible or undesireable (I've never used any myself), but I deeply respect people's right to do so. Why cannot you?

Well, I just start feeling really sad when people makes negative statement abount drug usage in general, when my personal usage of drugs like ecstacy and hallucinogens like magic mushrooms has improved my quality of life IMMENSELY. Never before have I laughed so much, enjoyed fruits and vegetables so much, and enjoyed life so much in general. I'm just trying to say, THERE IS some thing called responsible drug usage, especially with regards to nootropics, as most are proven to be healthy.

And if you should bother doing some research on nootropics, you will probably discover that the majority of drugs have almost no known negative side-effects. They actually appear to be beneficial to one's health. Sure, vast amounts of research should be carried out before we draw any conclusions, but I think it's safe to say that they are at least FAR MORE SAFE than alcohol (one of the most dangerous drugs there is) which you seem to encourage the use of.

I am sorry for the comment about alcohol. I am actually just as aware of the wide scientific consensus that a regular consmption of small amounts of alcohol is very healthy, just as I am aware of the wide scientific consensus that getting drunk regularily is extremely harmful to one's body, and almost certainly more harmful than most other drugs (at least drugs like LSD, mushrooms, ecstacy, hashish, AND most smart drugs).
