  • HAHAHAHA GREAT VIDEO LMAOOO

  • @StevenPatrik ;-)

  • Sloppy Joe? Sandler?

  • @Timzsk8 Exactly! Thanks for watching it

  • (continues from below) - wow that last post was both redundant and grammatically horrible. todd can you please pitch correcti it?

  • @pennholderness Penn, Todd here. How are you? A few people have asked "who is that news anchor, and when are we going to see more of him." I think it was a pretty killer spot, and people definitely loved it in general.... So, on a different note, we ran your post through the software, and it came up with an error. Please advise!

  • (continued from below) For those of you industry experts who are well aware of the pitch correction phenomenon, I hope you can appreciate how mind-blowing this kind of thing is to someone who didn;t know that pitch correction existed. I have fielded hundreds of questions from viewers over the past few months and have done my best to answer them. Bottom line I hole you all realize that this kind of technology, even though it's been around for decades, is mind-blowing to the average listener

  • Wow - someone just showed me this link, and everyone's comments - first of all, soundpure is doing an amazing job moderating, explaining, and continuing the conversation. Second of all, I want to make it very clear that this is a studio that intently prides itself on having a phenominally natural envoronment to record voices - the fact that Neena Freelon chooses to record there should be 'nuff said. If you've heard her music you know that she needs a minimal amount of technology.

  • @stewardsultry No worries at all... thanks for the comment- studios are essentially rooms full of tools. In the end, the results of the recording, and the way that it is perceived (and consumed) is the determining factor. You can't really blame artists for using the tools at their disposal. But, authenticity is something that people seem to care about a lot, and there's something about actually "tuning" a vocal as opposed to comping one that really sets people off...

  • @stewardsultry Not sure if you were intending to address that to us, or the other commenters? We're certainly aware of all the studio tricks that have been around for ages... some of the greatest artists in the world are no strangers to harnessing the power of the studio. I think people's objection relate to the fact that authenticity is something greatly valued in music, and they would probably have the same reaction to the tricks that were used with tape.

  • @Bastasbra I agree. People aren't mature enough to use auto tune correctly. But if it never existed, the problem wouldn't exist either. They go hand in hand. The wrong types of people using the wrong types of gear makes for bad music.

  • @Michael55443 Extremely well put. Thanks for the comment!

  • Auto tune is the death of music's integrity. Thanks, Antares, for making a product such as this. Go to 3XW .antarestech .kom to send them hate mail.

  • @Michael55443 As a production house, we do what the work demands, but it is clearly something this is often overused and abused by producers trying to craft salvageable performances out of mediocre garbage. The bottom line is that for the types of music where true authenticity is valued, like classical, jazz, and a lot orf acoustic genres, autotune is rarely if ever used at the studio. This was really designed as more of a joke than anything else. Thanks for your comment

  • @soundpurestudios I didn't mean to sound like I was coming down on your studio specifically, I was just making a general comment. I've been a musician and audio professional over 30 years myself. I've seen how much has changed and to be honest, it saddens me. I remember a day when what you looked like didn't really matter as long as you put out good music. Now, it's all modeling to a throw away beat. I won't allow auto tune in my studio, no ifs, ands or buts. But I don't do the business you do.

  • @Michael55443 It's no worries at all. Your comments are understood and appreciated. No sure the right kind of change is down the road unless people vocalize how they feel, and the market reacts the way that it should. Until the buying public starts demanding authenticity, it probably won't change... but there will come a day when great sounding, natural, truthful, and authentic albums will get the attention they deserve, no doubt.

  • @soundpurestudios I will be first in line to start buying those albums. Until then, I'll listen to The Beatles. LOL

  • @Michael55443 its not the tools...its how you use the tools. PS "tremendous amount of correction" haha thumbs up Todd

  • Hilarious! Haha, I couldn't stop laughing at, "Tremendous amount of correction."

  • @TheAdamWallace Poor Bieber... no respect!

  • what voicecorrection program was used for this clip?

  • @TheSavageMessiah We used Waves Tune- if you have any questions about it, we represent Waves here at Sound Pure.

  • HAHA. justin beaver, TREMENDOUS amount of correction. HAHA best part of the video

  • lol

  • @EfarmosmenosStokos heheheee, glad you liked it!

  • badass

  • @gibaha Thanks for watching!

  • HOLY FK!!!

  • @master9716 Don't think anyone would buy the record, but it was quite a transformation! Thanks for checking us out!

  • So glad that you guys got played on the news. You're doing a great job. Hope one day to come and visit your studio. One day the trip from australia will happen!

  • @MusicAndDaren Please do, we'd love to have you!

  • Cheryl Coles Fight For This Love has the most 'not supposed to be noticed' pitch correction I have heard in a while.

  • @Mattthehat2012 Interesting... will have to take a listen, you are probably right! Thanks for the comment, and for watching!

  • There are great singers out there. You know it. Remember the days when you went to see a live show and the singer just couldn't cut it and you had to listen to it because that's how it was. Big deal. I'm not against pitch correction. I think it's a great tool when used sparingly. It's just so easy to abuse. Like compression/limiting.

  • @hueseph Very well put, thanks for the comment!

  • Sloppy Joe!

  • And get someone else to sing the songs which will suit the song you will produce. Just because you are a bad singer doesn't mean you don't sing at all, well of course if you can't sing completely then thats a different story.

  • @judenihal Thanks for the comment!

  • in my view pitch correction should NEVER be used in live or studio setting, HOWEVER....it may be useful in some aspects ex. someone is working on a song and they got the bass, guitar and drum tracks to sound awesome but need to record a vocal melody so that when they find the perfect vocalist they can re record it, so what they can do is record the vocal melody themselves, use pitch correction, then store the track until a good vocalist comes along

  • @darrylportelli Thanks for the viewpoint and comment! At a production studio where you track vocals for a living, and are hired by various artists, producers, and record labels like we are, it is something that is frequently requested... perhaps unfortunately. There are tools that can be carefully used, but easily abused, and I think this is definitely one of them.

  • @soundpurestudios I understand you perfectly, you have a job to do, if the client asks you to do it you cant refuse, you must make a living!!!

however, when a good vocalist comes in to record, you'll know whose good and who's crap

    darryl

  • @darrylportelli Could't agree more... trust us, it's easy to tell who sucks and who doesn't without regard to pitch correction!!

  • Now most of singers aren't talented... They just are what they are because of their managers- how they present you... It's so wrong on these days :(

  • @DjSens3 The music world has definitely changed a lot over the last couple of decades... the good news is that there are a lot of pure forms of music and musicians that are still out there

  • @soundpurestudios i agree, but most of them arent that popular because of competitioning with those untalanted ones.. i know few but very talanted vocalists, though;)

  • Sloppy Joe.

  • Well done Todd! Soundpure marketing at it's best!

  • @duddi1415 Thanks! We had a lot of fun with this one...

  • whats the software??

  • @pollin It is the Waves Tune plug-in... pretty good stuff, pretty reasonably easy to use. This one was REAL quick and dirty...

  • the reason they do pitch corrections on vocals, is to speed up production in the studio. you can be in studio all day trying to get the perfect vocals, and studio time is money. they use that time trying to get as many tracks out per day, and then go back correcting pitch, cutting up the song to match with the beat or the mix.

  • @rudeboys28712 This video was really more of a humor-piece, as you can probably tell. We honestly think of pitch correction as a way to save time in the studio at all... if you can get it right on the front end, you should. This really should be used as more of a last resort here at Sound Pure Studios, but in some cases a necessary evil...

  • @soundpurestudios I agree. I never "fix it in the mix". Get it right the first time. If you get an excellent vocal take, except for one slightly off note, I'd say go ahead and tune it. But that's IT. This is what the programs were originally created for (I hope). The ones abusing it are the "singers', producers and labels who are just motivated by greed. It's time to educate the listening public on how phony some of their favorite artists really are. This video should be aired continuously on TV

  • You have to admit that is a pretty strong voice!

  • @Onetruthrgv Heheh, we will let him know, he will love that!

  • Beyonce and Christina sound the same live and even acapella as they do in the studio.

  • @mtjproducer2008 This wasn't a stab at them, although you might be surprised at how many artists use programmatic versions of autotune in their live vocals... no idea if Beyonce or Christina do... this was really designed as a kind of joke (Although it does reveal the power of these tools)

  • I think pitch correction is one of the worse thing ever happened to music. NO MORE REALLY GOOD VOICE (like freddie mercury etc...), ONLY BAD VOICES CORRECTED AND "HACKED" with computers. THIS IS SHIT!!

  • @AmplifireOfficial

I think its mainly because if someone has a very good and interesting timbre

and sings so bad... you know whay i mean?

    but yes... its sad..

  • @AmplifireOfficial Well... it is definitely a polarizing thing... the bottom line is that it is out there. Take it or leave it, we are pretty sure that for our friends at NBC this was more of an expose piece (or a joke) than it was anything to be taken too seriously. Anyhow, thanks for watching and commenting, and if we can ever help you with real music gear or upgrades, we are glad to do it!!

  • If you are making the music yourself (like myself) and are not the best singer, then pitch correction is necessary but famous artists should really be using limited pitch correction.

  • @judenihal It is definitely a real part of music production today, take it or leave it. We have to use it on a lot of artists, even some professionals, though we agree, it should be used sparingly at most!

  • @judenihal Then they should make an auto tune for drums, bass and guitars, etc. Why not just do what Milli Vanili and lip sync? If you can't sing the style of music you play, get someone else to be your singer, and give them credit of course. Too many "artists" rely on this all too often, and the people with the real talent are going to be overlooked in favor of pretty faces with little to no talent.

  • @baronofbefoulment There is, and I rely on it all the time, I use MIDI and FL Studio more than playing the actual instruments, mainly because I don't really have them but also because of timing and perfection. The biggest problem with getting somone else to sing is that they will get the credit in the long run. Look at Miley Cyrus and Justin Bieber, but there are other artists where the producer gets the credit as well but I just feel that if you want to get the credit, you should sing some

  • HELL YA ABOUT TIME SOME ONE TOLD THE WORLD THIS VIDEO IS AWESOME

  • @headbagger63 Thanks for the comment!

  • This guy his hilarious. Definitely needs to be in movies... On a second note, I need to study my waves tune more :) lol

  • @TeamBlais We thought the same thing... Jason is still laughing!

  • Sloppy Joe!!

  • OMG!

    Sounds outsiding!

  • LOL What a well done docu/interview.

  • @searchlight31 Thanks, we will pass on the kind words to our new friends over at NBC!

  • LOL

  • LMAO! this is hilarious. You guys are located in NC?

  • @carloschulo Absolutely- we are downtown Durham , NC. If you are anywhere near us, you will have to pay a visit!

  • hahahaha
