  • this aint no fuckin around!!!

  • There are many bands which Kurt claimed to want to be in, or a cover band. Kurt had many influences, not just the pixies, however he did love them. Other major influences include; the beatles, iggy pop, led zeppelin, and the melvins

  • @thecrimsonkelpie "...In a January 1994 interview with Rolling Stone, he said, "I was trying to write the ultimate pop song. I was basically trying to rip off the Pixies. I have to admit it [smiles]. When I heard the Pixies for the first time, I connected with that band so heavily I should have been in that band—or at least in a Pixies cover band...

  • @thecrimsonkelpie "...We used their sense of dynamics, being soft and quiet and then loud and hard."[112][115] Cobain cited Surfer Rosa as one of his main musical influences, and particularly admired the album's natural and powerful drum sounds—a result of Steve Albini's influence on the record. Albini later produced Nirvana's 1993 In Utero at the request of Cobain."

  • were this band the first to use the idea of a quiet verse.. then using the same chords, but louder, for the chorus.

I know nirvana used this later in 'smells like teen spirit'.

  • @Simon0 Kurt Cobain readily admits that the Pixies were a huge influence for this song: "One notable citation as an influence was by Kurt Cobain, on influencing Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit", which he admitted was a conscious attempt to co-opt the Pixies' style...

  • @Simon0 i know what you say is true but arent you more or less quoting david bowie from an interview in like 97??????......

  • @ShereKhan77 nope cause i have never heard that interview. to be fair though it is very possible i heard it from somewhere. but i have enough musical understanding to also be able to hear this myself!

  • @Simon0 i mean i understand your words in defense but he even mentioned the same song...eh whatever.i mean i switched to anolog synth music just to avoid string intrument progression similiatiries and other genere and mislabelinbg and other scenester nightmares.i mean no nead to shout "!" i just got a serious chuckle when i read it.i think interview was associated with frank blacks birthday were david bowie sung with him.dont quote me on that or anything ;)

  • This is a very awesome song!!!!!!!!!(:
