The "Savage" full-length video (with all the album's songs) is a cinematic masterpiece. Few realize how cohesive and conceptual "Savage" was. The sequence of the songs and images, taken as a whole, form a powerful mini video opera that explores the uncomfortably thin line between love and hate. Eurythmics were true pioneers of the music video as art form-- I hope some Blu-Ray remasters are in the works!

why has shame [my 2nd favourite eurythmics song&vd,love is stranger being 1st] been removed from utube?in march 1990 when i was 18yrs old,we got a vhs player and i got savage vd album.i was blown away by the vds especially vds to shame & wide eyed girl.i was shocked to discover that shame was released as a single which flopped in the charts,why didnt they re-release it?especially when we see what happened to love is a stranger single[flopped when release in nov1982,made no.6[uk chart]rereleased

This "persona" of hers between frustrated housewife and glammed out starlet is the closest she comes to me to be "psycho" in a character....Her whole transformation thru the whole of Savage vhs is just amazing....would have loved to be a fly on the wall while Muller and Lennox were making it....

According to many sources Eurythmics made this (& Savage) with tongue-firmly-planted-in-cheek­, for fun. After 'Love is a Stranger' some people ran declared this as 'proof' that Annie was a 'lesbian' !! This goes to the idea that music is either autobiographical or contain subtle 'hidden' messages (Beatles 'Abbey Road' - John is dead, playing songs backwards etc)- nonsense. Wonderful video - fresh as ever. Thanks for sharing it parsimonioso. 'Brill'

Wood, trees?! Wanna try & teach yer grandma to suck eggs? Don't bother. In every detail of her stage & private persona, she's the epitome of elegance. I was selling Savage when it came out, some questioned her roots showing & bad false nails; anyone clued-up would know, she'd never appear less than perfect, unless it was deliberate (the word's 'supposed', by the way). She's an immaculately stylish lady - but the bored housewife look was never, ever cool, even in the 80s. Thank you, & goodnight.
