The biggest one that you can still buy today is the SR 3001 Tiger from Frutiger with 15 cbm; the SR 2001 is 10,5 cbm. I have two older SR 85 from Menck from 1976 and 1978 with 8,5 cbm.
This machine is originally from Menck/Hamburg, later models come from Frutiger/Switzerland. The one shown here is a SR 2001 from Frutiger. There are also models from Bühler/Switzerland or Nissha/Japan, but all of them are based on Menck.
That is a wierd machine...but interesting!! I never saw a earthmover like that. I like it. It's getting the job done thats for sure. Wonder if they make those in bigger models.
Brilliant video thanks - cross between a motor scraper and crawler loader - this is an excellent machine for straight forward site stripping - the speed of transportation to the stockpile was impressive too.
I saw 5 of these at the auction in Yokohama when I saw there. just parked in a row, getting bid on tender-style. They said Menck on them. I could never figure out what they did. This video answered that quite well. This machine looks pretty useful in the right place, Ron. Better than a cat/scraper setup in speed, and better than a rubber tired belly scraper with push cats and push/pulls. Its just not popular in our world, thats all.
Thanks for posting, The first one i've ever seen, seems like a handy machine.

As I know, this type of scrapers was offered (by Menck) in the early 50-th, and no one had constructed something more original!
