@onitag That's like saying Achilles wouldn't have stood a chance to Alexander the Great. First of all, Achilles was a foot soldier who led a small group of elite men. Leonidas was a king who was accomplished in strategy but not special in hand to hand combat (at least in comparison to his men).

Also, the real master of Thermopylae was Themistocles; not Leonidas.

The point is, you can't compare ANY warriors who didn't actually fight.

@onitag Leonidas was the king of Sparta. He wasn't just some war leader so his chief talents likely existed in other areas. In addition they NEVER broke ranks and charged. They maintained a phalanx always until the group was small enough that most were dead. Finally, Leonidas didn't lead 300 spartans. He led 8,000 greeks at thermopylae, among those 300 spartans as well as quite a few slaves.

The movie 300 lied in just about every way. Read Thucydides' "The history of the Peloponnesian war".
