In 1919, after WWI, the Unites States with allies forbade the german citizens from owning guns.
In 1928 the german government relaxed this law, and let citizens own gund with a permit.
In 1938 Hitler relaxed the laws even more, and now every citizen over 18 could own rifles and shotguns without a permit.
In 1945, after WWII, the United States with allies AGAIN forbade the germans from owning guns. This law was in effect until 1956.
So don't link gun control to Hitler.
