Marriage between a man and a woman has been recognized for as long as recorded history. No country needed to vote it into existence. The purpose of such a family has a lot to do with bearing and raising children - something a homosexual relationship can't do for obvious reasons. Since when did sexual preference become a civil right? These people running through the street remind me of how it must have sounded outside of Lot's house in Sodom and Gomorrah.
Not being able to bear and raise children is ofcourse also the reason infertile, elderly couples and people who simply do not want children are not allowed to marry.
Sexual preference is not a civil right: equality is a HUMAN right, like documented in the UNDHR. Equal rights are a HUMAN right and those are inalienable. And the USA is all about Human rights, right? They play police agent about them all around the world anyway...
You're wrong. Marriage has not been between "a man and a woman" throughout recorded history. It has been between a man and as many women as he can get his hands on.
Your own beloved Bible should teach you that. Jacob was married to both Leah and Rachel at the same time, and Solomon had no fewer than 700 wives! Maybe you should actually read the book you profess to lead your life by. Inconvenient fact #375.
@buddy51 Any form of marriage whether it be polygamy, bilygamy should be legal as long as it's between a man and a woman not a man and a man. Yes on prop8.
The case for homosexual marriage is not even close to being made. In fact, until proven otherwise, on face value, it is anti-nature. Gay marriage produces zero offspring. In our modern and enlightened age we have yet to prove or explain homosexuality. Homosexuals are more confused about themselves than almost anybody else. Please lay out the case for homosexuality first.
BY that reasoning freedom of religion should be abolished because no one has ever proven a God excists.
Please lay out the case for a god first. (and I assume you're religous, I know, I apologise if this is not the case)
And the argument about gays not producing offspring is moot: infertile and elderly couples also don't produce offspring, and there are people who choose not to get children and they are still allowed to marry.
THANK YOU, DENVER, for standing UNITED with us here in California and across our entire nation. We WILL overcome civil inequality and legistated prejudice. With lots of LOVE from your brothers and sisters in San Francisco.
Married people gain over 1,400 legal rights for the cost of a license. Civil Unions don't even come close. I pay my taxes, why should I be denied legal rights? That is called taxation without representation...I do believe a revolution started over such a thing. This is civil rights. Suppose we let each state vote on the Emmancipation proclamation - blacks still would have the right to vote. Civil rights must be federally protected.
Civil unions have those legal rights, tax breaks, visitation merits, the state supreme courts making their own laws is taxation without representation, I wish they would let states vote on whether to ban gay s and m parades, civil unions give those rights without having to change what marriage is
any person who was there was there by CHOICE. yes, there were children, but that just means that they believe in something. who are you to deny any one their right to believe, let alone their right to love? you're not God, so stop playing like you are.
What do we want? Stop the perverts!
When do we want it? NOW!

I remember it started from a small group that stood in front of a Mormon church in LA, that spread to 300 cities across the country. *sigh*

The Supreme court decided this, but you couldn't let it go, so why should we?

Civil rights cannot be denied by a vote. They are RIGHTS, not privileges. Should your right to marry be decided by popular vote?
