@SpencerM1A1 Yup. Theremins, slide whistles, rolled up news papers for that famous swat sound, bells, and other stuff which was also used to make those old radio show sound effects. :)
Ummm yes I'm very very to ask this but ummm I wish to get a theramin , for two reasons because it seems like a very interesting instrument , and also cause of Jimmy Page , I bet you must get this alot , but if I buy the Theramin , what would I need to have the same sound he had ?
@ThomasGrillo oh thank very much :D But is it true that the theramin can be connected to a guitar amp ? because my guitar amp has those necessary effects
@FcBarcaman1193 You can, and if you're just going for distortion effects, it's not as critical, but if you ever want to play melodicaly (like classical) where you might not want distortion, the guitar amp won't provide the best instrument reproduction at the speaker. There will be areas of pitch that sound a bit distorted. In that case, you want a keyboard rated amp.
@ThomasGrillo Oh ok then , well if I want the jimmy page theramin sound I use the guitar amp , and yes I do wish to learn the classical way , oh ok then thank you very much ThomasGrillo I appreciate your help very much :)
You can also get the high-lo trill by touching things like a monitor or as carport888 has recently demonstrated in one of his videos, another person! ;)
Mine is not a signatuer series. The white circle is a cover for an access hole I drilled.
I only know the wood is a hard wood of furniture grade. I know, that's not much to go on. the only other thing I do know about the wood, is Moog Music gets their wood from a company called Wagon Wheel, out in the mid west. Don't know where, though. I'll keep you posted if I find out more about the wood used.
The different colors are just limited editions of the instrument.
No, this appears to be batch related issue. Not all units do this. One of my students in the UK has an E-Standard, and his does not exhibit this artifact.
so this what they used to make cartoon noises in the 60's huh? haha

@FcBarcaman1193 You might want to run a theremin through an effects device with a flanger, and a bit of reverb, perhaps even a bit of distortion. :)

Wow, that's cool.
My theremin makes that chirping sound when I tap the underside of the volume antenna with the top of my finger.
I've also noticed that the hi-lo effect at 1:56 can be done by using a cord with an uncovered end, and tapping the metal part.
Cool video!

Really quite fascinating.

Thanks again for the replies and for documenting this flaw/feature? in such an entertaining way! Look forward to mode great vids from you soon.
How about a rendition of Vocalize on the E-standard like what you did for the B3? :)

No problem. The imprtant thing here was to offer a solution to the problem as well.
Happy Thanksgiving all! ;)

I've seen new ones do this.

Hello Thomas,
Do all Etherwave Standards have unwanted sounds when you touch the volume antenna?

With the use of effects gear, this is possible with any theremin.

Hey, is it possible with the theremin standard to make a sound modulation? like a voice or a violin for example?
