i like stravinsky's music, but i also really hate the fact he's so famous...i think Bartok had more skill and coherency than Stravinsky. Bartok's music is also more compelling in emotion.
Stravinsky is my favorite composer. He's made some of the best music I've ever heard. And the Rite of Spring strikes a substantial amount of emotion and fear in me, anyway. The amount of emotion music compels in you is dependent on your opinion of that music and whether you like it or not.
I really don't get why you're concerned about fame, either. It's music. Why do people always have to turn it into a bloody competition? That's not what music is at all. No offence or anything...
