  • the reason hes so pissed is cause he cut his balls of doin that practicing

  • For the self inflicted Lorena Bobbit in all of us!

  • I have seen real flying Kama.......this isnt it......another wannabe I would really like to see Kobudo....not this crowd pleasing schlock

  • I'm sure if the camera had kept rolling, we would have seen him start bleeding out of every square inch of his body.

  • He didnt cut himself... too bad.

  • This is one guy I wouldn't want to piss off.

  • wtf is this , shaking some blunt kamas like some sort of body popping/dance thing between your legs will not disable or falaly harm your opponennt - go do some real japanese traditional shotokan karate and learn the PROPER way without fancy weapons and black gi's ....

  • this fool is clueless

  • i wonder how many times he thought he was gonna cut and or stab him self lol

  • The actual forms that I've seen for kama, the ones that were actually taught in Okinawa and, for kusarigama, Japan, have all been really simple. For kama, it's like a big cat killing something. Get the claws into their belly and kick down. Repeat. Or attack the head and neck like a woodpecker on PCP. Blocking is simple, catch the weapon, swarm up the arm, maim, kill. This fancy stuff is useless.

  • I wouldn't swing sharpened steel that fast.

  • all this time i was hoping he'd chop his nuts off :-D

  • Asian kratos.....Nuff said

  • id laugh if he fell into little slices when he finished

  • mcdojo shithead.

  • to the untrained individual, that looks badass. And i'm not gonna lie, i really enjoyed watching that. However, i saw no more than 5 moves that would be applicable to a real-life situation lol

still, that's not to say that this man's a slacker. You can tell he put a lot of effort into this form, and spinning those Kamas around is a LOT harder than it looks. I remember the first time i used one of these i ended up cutting my toenail clean off.

  • ny big cuzzin matthew "tank" rodriguez!!!

  • hes doing the most basic things but aroung=d his legs and neck.

  • hes a master, and those is prob pretty sharp........... he just know the way to handle eme to not hurt himself :)

  • what if he act cut his neck??

  • This is total nonsense. The kama was as sharp as a razor and used for cutting grain. As a martial art weapon it was used for maiming and killing. It was simple to use and flashy crap would get you cut badly. Yeah, yeah, you are going to give me the tournament crap and the next time a new student shows up (aka knows nothing) the "martial art" term will come up.

  • That guy is going to chop his nuts off some day...

  • to kill him, all you need is a sharp sword

  • Honestly this is all just showing off. My instructor has said that the only reason to even have a string on the kamas is because the okinawans would tuck it in their belts to walk home. Flipping them around like that is number one dangerous to the person using them and number two really stupid.

  • impressive.

  • i woulnt fuck with that dude

  • notice how fucken stupid and dumb all those idiots are sitting so close to him swinging those kamas!!!

  • thats like saying give me a unloadable 45 and let me shoot myself...

give me a loaded 45 and watch me go slow.

Those are obviously not sharp and he isn't even watching his 'opponent', hes watching his weapon...derrr...he'd be dead...

    BAKKA!

  • it's just a weapon demo. That wouldn't be used in a real fight.

  • You fight like you train.

  • tj2, I totally agree with you...zero...why waster your time demonstrating something so useless?

  • As I said before, you train how you fight. Secondly, one of the things you see again and again in the kata of the koryu bugei, the old weapons arts of japan, is that you never let go of your weapon. No twirlies, nothing that loses you control of your weapon, because the moment you commit to a spin like he's doing, that's when you lose your hand. All they have to do is aim for the center of the spin.

  • Oh yes, to clarify one of my earlier posts, the Japanese forms I've seen were for the kusari-gama. I've also seen okinawan forms for the kama, which look a bit different, but same thing, Never lose control of the weapon. They okinawan forms are very brutal, using the blades to repeatedly stab and chop at the attacker's face, chest, and arms. The japanese forms presuppose an armored opponent, so they go for the joints and the throat after entangling the weapon hand..

  • of course not.... the other guy could just shoot you after you show off

  • lol great kata but get a new look dude and watch were you swing those kamas

  • I'd love to fight him, if that's how he thinks kama should be used... I wouldn't have to do anything except hand him a pair of SHARP ones and let him kill himself.

  • Hehe I love you. That's exactly what I wanted to say.

  • @tj2mag NO SHIT, forget Lorena Bobbit, let this guy cut his own dick off......

  • @tj2mag The spins and hooks performed with flying kamas don't allow the blade to graze the skin if performed correctly. I have a pari of sharpened flying kamas and I am able to perform the same movements without so much as a scratch in any movement.

  • @DamienZshadow yah, now try it when you're scared for your life and someone's coming at you with something. Here's the thing: KISS is the only thing that works for weapons work. You hold on to your weapon, you don't try fancy flips, because as soon as you get into a fight, all that fancy stuff will not work for you. I've SEEN some of the old kama kata. Screw fancy twirling, it's more like being gutted by a cat, and works the same.

  • @tj2mag Oh absolutely. I never said anything about the application of the kama in a real fight. All I said was that he isn't actually making contact with the skin with the blade in those twirls. This is another example of knowing the difference between just displaying your capabilities and performing a real scenario strike.

  • @tj2mag Whenever a martial artist does a 540 round kick, for example, he full well knows he'd never defend with it. Martial arts tricks are just that and no one ever says they're useful in self defense. But still, to be able to do tricks like the 540, you have to have a strong mastery of the simple but effective round kick. So in a sense, it is useful to learn how to perform various feats of skill with a weapon just to exercise your dexterity and handling of the weapon if nothing else.

  • @DamienZshadow You train the way you fight. If you don't believe me, try fighting. You'll fight the way you trained. If you trained fancy tricks, as opposed to keep it simple stupid, you WILL try to use them. And you WILL get hurt doing it.

  • @tj2mag Well thankfully I have enough time in my day to devote training seriously in self defense and still have room for extra-curricular activities. I have something remarkable called self control too so when I am sparring I never throw a single spinning kick yet on the weekends I can still amazingly find myself playing around with friends to see how spins we can do like a cheat900 or a jackknife kick. All for fun, yes, but at the same time we are pushing our abilities and training our minds.

  • @tj2mag It's to demonstrate his skill, he can use it so close to his body with such control that he won't cut himself, it's the whole point. I'd actually like to see you try and fight him, you'd most likely get cut up

  • @Phoenix554819 Probably, when sharpened steel gets into a fight, that tends to happen. If he tried those moves, though, he'd bleed out.

  • if he split his balls uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh lol

  • thats no true kata

  • please enlighten us with your video of the True Kata...

  • omfg one false move and his balls and head would have been fucked!

  • Pitiful. It's sad to see what we've done to kobudo.

  • that is awesome!

  • I'd like to see the bunkai for this kata. :)

  • Interesting. And Clever. But not Martial Arts and does not demonstrate the use of the kama. Maybe the title should be 'Juggling Act'.

  • if those were real he would be cut up. there not ment to be used like knumchucks. those are unshapened for tounament. there was no techneque in here. it was ment to look good. kama were used to fight swords men. in this demonstration he demenstrated to improper use of kama. you can not block a sword if you're spining them around your neck. also when he did his "form" he was looking at the kama. Almost every martial artist would know that you always look at your opponent. all this is is a demo.

  • I disagree that they were meant to fight swordsmen. I can see staff or knife, but they don't have the reach. Otherwise, I agree with you. If those were sharp, he'd have slashed his carotids, both femoral arteries, and hamstrung himself. And those are the immediately disastrous wounds, I'm not counting the others. Besides that, crossing both arms so close to your body like that before a strike guarantees that someone's going to jam you, possibly with a blade.

  • Haven't you ever heard of the gusari-kama?

  • yes, I have. I've also seen some proper Japanese kata for them, done by a practitioner of Araki ryu and his deshi. They're 2-person kata, practiced against an opponent. They're also short, 5 moves. The fifth move is a bit showy - though not nearly as showy as this is. It is put in so the total moves do not equal 4, or shi, which can be read as death and is considered bad luck.

  • I also know someone who's sparred with a padded kusarigama vs a bokken. It's nasty, acts like a jab in boxing, and is very good at keeping distance. It's also prone to tangling in shrubbery, which is when the guy wielding the bokken got his revenge!

  • looks like he knows how to not cut himself ... bravo.

  • noo those kama ate not sharpened. there tournament style kama.

  • is that butch ? i like the speed , fast moving blades seem to impress me....

  • Copied from Master Tadashi Yamashita. Either from video or attended one of his seminars. Should give credit to Master Yamashita.

  • I'm just glad those kamas didn't fly into his neck.

  • poi performance with kamas -.-

  • A nice dance. At what point did he actually show kama actions that attacked anything?

Oh..maybe they were just too fast for my old eyes to see ;-)

  • traditionalist.

did it at any point say that he was using any actual technique? no, its a demonstration meant to look good.

    that is all

  • Sorry, It was the title "Martial Arts Demonstration usnig the kata or form utilizing the kama..." that threw me off. Martial arts means something to me other than dance. I must be getting old... where's my cane... harumph..fap hack kaff.

  • Impressed :)
