Yes its all about the flick if you want height and style. When i first learned it was stomping down my front foot off the side of the board to make it flip which works but doesnt look good

(This is my other account) I skate whatever. This one is probably a 7.75 I think. I like mixing it up. I've skated an 8.5 before... it's pretty fun :) Kickflips with a big plank feel awesome. However, it's easiest to learn on a skinny deck.

It's because the flick of your toe is what makes the board flip. It's the most important part. Some people think that you just "push" your foot downwards when you ollie.
