A network could elections for whoever they want. That doesn't mean the person stole the election in actual vote totals. Also, halfway through the night, all the other news networks pulled back Florida for Gore because they realized they had made a mistake. Fox News and all the other news networks called it for Bush when they realized BUSH HAD THE MOST VOTES.

I live here in Florida and followed this closely. The Florida Supremes (notoriously liberal) tried to extend the counting period illegally. Harris merely read the rules and did the right thing. Jeb had nothing to do with it and thousands of black were not denied the vote.
Just google the Miami Herald, The NYT and the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. All three supported Gore and all three investigated the post election data. All three came to the same conclusion: Bush won in spite of Gore's attempt to have recounts in only the dem controlled districts. I think there were three. It's called the electoral college. The election for President and Vice President is not a direct election by United States citizens. Citizens vote for electors, representing a state, who are the authorized constitutional participants in a presidential election.

Instead, the people vote for electors who, in turn, vote for the president. Who ever wins the popular vote in a given state wins the electoral votes in that state. The recount process they were doing in Flordia was illegal. You cannot select specified precincts to recount an election, you have to recount everything. If Gore wanted the whole state of Florida recounted, that would've been acceptable. The U.S. Supreme Court simply told everyone to stop it with the recount because of the manner it was done in. We know Bush won. I don't see why it's important to some of you, you have your guy Obama now.

When an issue is brought before the Supreme Court of any state or of the United States, then that Court has the authority to decide that issue. Gore wanted selected recounts in precincts he hoped to gain votes in. Election law requires that he recount every precinct which put him behind in the votes. The USSC simply ended Gore's attempt to steal the election through selective counting. What part of that YOU DEMOCRAT COCKSUCKER do you not understand?
It wasn't just Bush, Gore tried to steal the election. He bought, swapped, and voted multiple times, had non-citizen Haitian vote for him, along with illegal voting of convicted felons.

What Toobin is shown saying is simply not true. A consortium of media that included the NYTimes and Wapo in fact recounted the ballots using numerous different methodologies. If the Florida decision had been overturned by SCOTUS, the election would have gone to the House of Representatives (12th Amendment), where each state's delegation gets one vote. It was 27-23 Republican, assuming party lines are followed, G.W. Bush wins anyhow.

I live here in Florida and followed this closely. The Florida Supremes (notoriously liberal) tried to extend the counting period illegally. Harris merely read the rules and did the right thing. Jeb had nothing to do with it and thousands of black were not denied the vote.

All three came to the same conclusion: Bush won in spite of Gore's attempt to have recounts in only the dem controlled districts. I think there were three. Ridiculous. The numbers were very close, no question about it. But when all was said and done, Bush won. Ironically, it was Gore's pathetic performance in the election that put him in the pickle he was in. As an eight-year Vice President, he should have easily swept the election. Instead, he lost key Democratic states that most Democrats take. In fact, he could not even win his home state. Gore is the one who put himself in the position where Florida decided everything.

@Voodoofreak35, which newspapers? It is clear that Gore won the popular vote. But the president is not directly elected by the American people. Instead, the people vote for electors who, in turn, vote for the president. Who ever wins the popular vote in a given state wins the electoral votes in that state. Gore won the popular vote overall, but he lost the election. Bush won because he won more electoral votes. In all Florida recounts, Bush won.

The recount process they were doing in Flordia was illegal. You cannot select specified precincts to recount an election, you have to recount everything. If Gore wanted the whole state of Florida recounted, that would've been acceptable. The U.S. Supreme Court simply told everyone to stop it with the recount because of the manner it was done in. We know Bush won. I don't see why it's important to some of you, you have your guy Obama now.

When an issue is brought before the Supreme Court of any state or of the United States, then that Court has the authority to decide that issue. Gore wanted selected recounts in precincts he hoped to gain votes in. Election law requires that he recount every precinct which put him behind in the votes. The USSC simply ended Gore's attempt to steal the election through selective counting. What part of that YOU DEMOCRAT COCKSUCKER do you not understand?

What Toobin is shown saying is simply not true. A consortium of media that included the NYTimes and Wapo in fact recounted the ballots using numerous different methodologies. In all but ONE Bush came out on top. And using the specific method that the Gore Campaign sued to use, Bush also won. Amazing to what lengths libs will go to in lieing about a ten year old election.

In this movie he fails to meniton that Fox also called Florida for Gore before the polls closed in that state, that CNN and CBS took Florida out of the Gore column before Fox (in fact, Fox did NOT take Florida out of the Gore column until after 2pm). Katherine Harris was not the vote count woman...vote counting is done by elections commissioners in each county. All she did was certify the ballots. And his newspaper clip is nothing more that a READER'S Op Ed piece. This movie was simply lies

If the Florida decision had been overturned by SCOTUS, the election would have gone to the House of Representatives (12th Amendment), where each state's delegation gets one vote. It was 27-23 Republican, assuming party lines are followed, G.W. Bush wins anyhow.
