  • It's not Russian it's Armenian!!

  • Thanks for posting this! First time I have heard it played at the proper tempo.

  • I loved this ever since I heard it played at the BBC Proms many years ago. I next heard it whilst on a BA flight to Los Angeles, now I can add it to my Favourites on YouTube! Thank you!

  • Bravo! First video I saw in a long time with 0 dislikes, majestic!

  • Great waltz, thanks. But why does it say War And Peace? That is a different great waltz.

  • @jeddak5

Ah, I see now. From the movie. I wonder why the director didn't use the amazing Prokofiev waltz.

  • FINALLY FINALLY

I HAVE BEEN LOOKING FOR THIS FOR TWO YEARS WITH NOTHING ELSE TO GO WITH BU A SOUNDBITE I ONCE HEARD ON THE RADIO

  • @alexia513

YouTube won't let me link for some reason. but if you search War And Peace and Prokofiev, it will come up on your results

  • Definitely the best version. Thank you!!

  • Great Masterpiece!

  • it´s a very beautiful piece, but in this version it is too quick.

  • What an inspiring piece - makes me want to get my dancing shoes on :0)

  • Absolutely beautiful! What wonderful music - so well played. Many thanks for sharing.

  • Not too fast! I can just imagine almost getting whiplash tearing around the dance floor to it. Wonderful!

  • gloriooooooos!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Stalin said to Roosevelt: In America all the Armenians run cheap resturants or write silly books like your Saroyan. In the USSR, Armenia produces brilliant artists.

-- from "What I heard at Yalta," by Lt Ygor Von Armowicz

  • I love it!!!! Finally I've found it!!!!

  • This is the definitive waltz of all! How can I thank you for creating this video? It brought tears to my eyes and transported me to a new world, like in Disney's "Fantasia 2000"!

    Thank you immensely again!

    Thank you again imm

  • que....que magnifica esta obra!!!que dramatica,bellisma.....genial

  • a little unsettling

remind the prelude of a battle

which fits the context in the film

  • In my opinion, it's played a bit too fast. It sounds like the musicians have to hurry up - that's why a part of the emotion is lost.

  • i love it !

  • The most fantastic walz! I just love the way it keeps going - Typical Russian, even in its happy parts you can feel the sorrow. I have been to Skt. Petersburg and love the great country. This brings me back when I listen to great music like this. Russia is all about great emotions and feelings - happy and sad.

  • Actually, Aram Khachaturyan is an Armenian composer.

  • its not russia, its armenia. Hes an armenian composer. I hate it when my people don't get the credit for their work.

  • @woahsaywhatttt

but only in Russia the Armenians had any chance like that.

  • @Janbeckeriksson Khachaturian is Armenian actually. Although of course there was some Soviet Russian influence but he was very culturally influenced by his Armenian background. It is great I agree!

  • @Janbeckeriksson Since when Khachaturyan is Russian? Get you facts strait he is Armenian!

  • @Janbeckeriksson Do you know that the composer Aram Khachaturyan is armenian? :)

  • @Janbeckeriksson I agree with you, but Aram Khachaturian is Armenian.

  • @Janbeckeriksson Khachaturian wasn't Russian; he was a full-blooded Armenian at a time when our country was still part of the Soviet Republic. And the melodies you hear are influences of Armenian folk music as well ;)

And yes, this piece is very beautiful. I once played this with my colleague in a piano duet. Phenomenal piece by Khachaturian - we Armenians are very proud of his work.

  • Lovely music and film... only criticism: this music has been composed in 1943, so it wouldnt be correct to use it as source music (also called on-music, i.e. happening in the reality of the film). However, for the viewer it gives a nice emotional basis on which they both fall in love ;-).

  • Uwielbiam!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • ja też uwielbiam :) pzdr :)

  • Aram Khachaturian :) this version was very difficult to find but I've got it ;)

  • Wow. Thank you, thank you and thank you !!!!! I loved it!!! The music is...WONDERFUL! Who's the composer?
