cool, but w/e u hang this thing from would end up being an obstruction, plus sneakybeaver13V2 has a point, i can imagine a disk just bouncing off if it directly hits one of the corner strings
i would suggest taking the strings on the corners off and put a small pole going down the center with something attaching it to the bottom section so you will have the same hanging basket but without the strings. And my reason for it is that if someone were to put and hit one of the strings on the corner it would mess up the put.
Sorry it haas taken so long to get back to you. Busy season at work. I have not had time to look at the target and put together a mterials list and cost but mybe in the fall.
The flaps hang below the rim so when a disc tries to go out the back the flap does not swing out. The flaps only swing in. The disc could twist going out between the back flaps, but for the most part what goes in dosc not come out.
wow, 377 aces...so far. That is insane. I have been playing DG for a couple years now, no aces though, haha. I am going to start making my own basket pretty soon. I'm not sure which design to chose from- a tire, pvc, metal, or something else. Anyone have any tips or things to consider before I start constructing this?
The first basket I made had a wooden circular top on a 2 inch pvc pipe with a round landscaping plastic pool as the basket and a wool army blanket around the top. The blanket was great at stopping the disc and dropping it in tthe basket.
having very thin support wires on the corners provide maximum target area. The idea was to keep the internal target area clear to allow the flaps to go back with out restrictions. Not matter what kind of target you make, you will always have something on the target theat the discs will blounce off of.
hey love the aces... disc golf is finally starting to get some recognition up here in canada.. im in ontario with a couple courses.. only thing that sux is i gotta drive 2 hours to the nearest course.... but anyways... do u have lattice hangin in ur target?... just wondering... im a be making one soon
Thanks for the kind words! Glad to hear that DG is catching on up your way, sorry to hear that you have to drive so far to get to a course, I do use PVC Lattice in that hanging target. Keep in touch!
That's sweet man! I like the look of it. Not sure if you play video games, but have you heard about disc golf being on the new tiger woods '10 on the wii system? Looks pretty sweet!
Crazy, I had no idea Disc Golfing was actually a "legit" sport. :D I would like to try it some day, but I just don't have the dedication to buy some fresbees/discs and go out and play. I'd actually, not trying to be to self-centered, be pretty darn good considering I throw it very well. I'm most likely just assuming to quickly. :) You're very good, bye the way, DiscGolfer, or Cubby if I may say so. Best wishes to you in the future.
Good target for practice or a private course. It actually works pretty good at angles too. Just angle the disc. I doubt anyone will come up with a square target that catches better than this one.

Hey, Thanks for posting this!
I saw it last night and made one like it today. I have approximately $30 invested.
Now I just need to get better at hitting it.
Thanks again.

Glad to see the Cubby Trap built by someone else, you are the first to let me know the Cubby Trap was duplicated. I hope you enjoy it.

Actually a center pole would limit the flap action in this target. The wires on the corner really don't come into play and hekp more than hurt.

how would i go about getting a cubby trap for my course I have 9 holes and 6 different basket types,.... a seventh would be sweet
Malaki236 2 years ago
I would have to make one for you.
DiscGolfer 2 years ago
so how much would it cost to have one made for me and shipped?

what if you throw it quite hard, will it go all the way through?

how much did that cost you to make?
bigred7752 2 years ago
Great question, but I did not keep track of what I spent on my creation.

you should have the support wires in the center rather then on the courners, cuz wont it hit the wire and bounce off.

That is very awesome! I like the square shape.
I have also built a disc golf target and put up videos. It is a more "traditional" design though. You should check it out.
dhayes28 2 years ago
Thanks!! The square works great and has more catchable area than the conventional round targets. I'l check out your creation.
DiscGolfer 2 years ago
Thought about chaining it to the ground? It would be more stable, and maybe could be considered as a replacement for the traditional holes?
peterparker523 2 years ago
This version is a hanging model. My next creation will be the portable grounded model.

Thanks, I have not had the pleasure of playing in MT.

You should try and sell them! I would buy one. If not at least show us how you made it!
JoeBradshaw123456 2 years ago
I may produce them in the future.

Sure it prevents 'chain outs' but all the putts were straight on! Great thinking though!

I did not make the video to show shots from every angle, but I have taken lots fo shots all kinds of angles and I am happy with the results.
DiscGolfer 2 years ago
Nice! I might make one myself.

for a practice target this works but this wouldn't work coming at different angles...

I like it!!
And you're a good putter
Seems a tad flimsy though.

Thanks, It's pretty rugged actually. this target is my prototype. If I produced any of these I would use larger PVC.
