So appropriate with what's going on in the world today especially with poor Libya -- they broke the connection to western capital by deciding to go with gold as the standard for payment of their oil -- their leader then was assassinated fighting to disconnect from this monster of US and NATO imperialism --
@magicforesttree Don't distort the message. Obviously they were/are being used by Western powers, but their leader was awful. The fact that people almost always see one side as wrong and the other side as true freedom in issues like this really reflects on how easily we fall for hivemind and control. Even when breaking apart from one group we flock to another.
This reminds me on what is happening in the world. Espacialy Iraq and libya. Beeing free is not always for the better. People misunderstand democracy. It is based on rules. Rules you must obey. And rules not every one agrees with. The only thing people should fight for is respect, onor and dignity. Respect mankind and al living beeings. Human rights and have more tolerance.
brilliant! this art form is defiitely not as appretiated as it should be. watching this almost makes me understand how people can find puppets frightening. simply watching this you fully believe that puppet had a soul. then once you see it as an inanimate object again you can't shake the feeling that it's aware.
Excellent puppeteering, I would say. The marionette is at first excited and enthralled at first arising, but realizes his capabilities are limited to strings. So he persists to remove them, perhaps in a suicidal way, and collapses in the end. This really is a great art form.
Really neat. Cool idea of the puppet breaking the 4th wall. It says something about bondage, like, the puppet rather be limp but free rather than continue to live a life where someone else is in control.
@theresalinger But aren't we all in bondage by someone in our lives? A boss, a spouse, a child, a relative, a politician, or someone else? It is why the marionette falls limp, because he has freed himself from his bondage. Without being strung up by someone, his life falls apart, and his precious little freedom amounts to nothing.
@MachRiderZero This needs to be voted up more. His death was in vain. No one can live entirely free, it's just a matter of how they feel about who/what is controlling them. As we all know, given the right circumstances bondage can be quite good.
He can breathe so much life into an inanimate object. He makes puppetry look so easy...his skill is incredible. I actually felt really bad for the poor little puppet, after it realizes that it is just a puppet, then *ends* itself.
I didn't think it possible to feel sorry for an inanimate object...he did it for me.
Magnificent performance! I was so impressed by Mr. Genty's art - he is bring into Pierrot so much life and feeling, and even that is sad, it so beautiful. Manipulating a puppet like this is really hard and Mr.Genty makes it look so easy. Thank you for that amazing art experience.
but you could just see the fishing line-like thread controlling the left hand, it'd b more amazing if u couldn't c it at all and it just moved by itself, which would of course be impossible
not all people are able to speak english, do you think you can force people to speak english just because you can't understand their language? ok, i'm from portugal what if i'd say something in portuguese why would you block me or delete my comment is it because you don't understand? be more considerate and learn to have some respect for other cultures and languages.
Good stuff. Sadly, we rarely see things as quirky, beautiful and mesmeric as this on TV anymore as people prefer to sit on their arses and watch Simon Cowell's puppets. Or - worse! - Big Brother.
