  • 3:003:47 ... PING! (*Big beaming smile* ) How to be a superstar by just giggling. Adam is great here, but so are all three of them – Ian Charleson RIP. And Derek RIP.

  • im not gay..but i would totally go down on my knees for adam ant....lol

  • Ahhh great stuff

  • this is epic!!! :) i love this!!!

  • i was pmsl when that man and Adam was stood ontop of the building and the man grabbed hold of his brace, adam was laughing then the man pinged it and Adam went "oh!" :L :L :L LOL

  • @telephone7300 yeah it makes you laugh watching someone laugh!!! i love it!! haha

  • 0:23 epic move!!

  • I LOVE HIS LAUGH!!!

  • lol he looks drunk and his legs are tied together!!

  • Lol was Adam suppose to attach himself to the guitar or was that an accident?

  • Adam's carrier reminds me of that song "your pretty face is going to hell". He had to make a choice between continuing being a musician or to become a model who sold music. He made the wrong one. Years later, his looks are gone but the music remains. The way he sounds, not the way he looked, are what people remember him for. He was such a good musician, he would have so much better if he had stayed one.

  • somone post the full video of the song

  • @firelord276 This is all they showed in the movie. There is another clip on YouTube but it's a different version of the song. Still great though!

  • @alibollyII rofl

  • wow that dude looks like adam ant

  • @ashesrosebuds It IS Adam Ant..

  • I want the whole movie I don't care how plotless it is. I would be willing to bet I have seen worse, trust me!!!

  • "YOU' ScUUuum"

    - Karl Lagerfeld... the younger years.

  • Mr Barbe belting the fuck out of his Hayman kit.......top stuff!

  • I agree this was not one of his best songs but Adam looks so cute...and flirting comes natural

  • A plotless film but i enjoyed it.

  • a star is born.....beautiful Adam

  • yummy

  • Any recommendations to carry this out. I saw a few ideas at plasticsurgerymadeeasy (.) com

  • back when it wasn't utterly embarrassing to like the ants. some of the best shows i saw in london in 78/79 were the ants. too bad they went into the toilet after their first lp.

  • I love the punk-era Adam and the Ants but I think this isn't one of their best songs. At all. Adam is beautiful of course.

  • Jubilee, the greatest art house film ever made.........

  • For all those Ants fans who felt betrayed by Kings of the wild frontier, spare a thought for the Scritti Politti fans upon hearing Cupid & Psyche 85. At least Dont be square be there sounded like it could have been off Dirk! In all honesty, it's hard to imagine a follow up to Dirk that could have come close. It said just about everything in one LP. The Pistols knew that following up Bollocks was an impossibility. Or I should say Lydon did and probably McLaren as well if truth be told.

  • Scum!

  • If anyone is interested I'll be posting up four songs that were recorded sometime after Mark left this outfit. It's the only recording I have and it's on cassette so the quality isn't that great and was done in an eight track recording studio. I'll try to upload them over the next couple of days.

  • miming

  • Wow! This is REAL punk before the new romantics got hold of Adam and his Ants!!!!! Fucking wicked!

  • @ joko428 yeah thats the response i had joko... im a 20 year old who has no connection to the music and fads of my generation... ive always been more about punk.. weather it be 77 american hardcore.. anarcho.. oi! i enjoy all types.. but ive been getting more into 80s indie, newromantic and new wave.. and i came across this video.. my dads a huge adam ant fan.. and he always told me adam ant was a punk.. haha i never knew till i seen this.. he made slaughter and the dogs look like the buzzcocks..

  • @joko428

If I'm not mistaken Adam went the New Romantic route for the success, since that was what he was after...And, I've seen him say he grew tired of that scene because it was fake and "elitist."

So tired of anarchists looking at me

    don't need their credibility

    "destroy," they say, "defy! condemn!"

as long as you don't destroy them

with twenty years of drugs and drink

I thought the time had come to think

about standing up and saying that

It's tragedy and such old hat

  • His role in Jubilee was a prophetic warning of what happens to pop stars, how right Jarman was. Adam lived that prophecy, so sad, so real, so justified.

  • does adam ant say anything in the whole film??

  • I have the movie and I think you can count the words he says on one hand.....he in alot of it, just doesn't speak much....

  • i really love ur username!

  • Yes he has the best line in the entire film, I think the best line ever written in any film.

When Crabs asks so what do you do, he replys.

    "nothing, Im a muscian."

  • adams still a baby!!! not quite the sex god he was in the 80s, but still quite adorable

  • Just for the music and shots of London @ that time, this film is priceless. The shitty, pretentious dialogue and crappy acting aside, it's worth watching.

  • I love him giving the finger at 2:40. Heh. Adam's so great!

  • i love adam and the ants.but, was this supose to be live cos it aint

  • Adam was so beautiful in his punk days but is he supposed to look like he's flirting?

  • 1.41. its joe satriani and jordan.

  • 'Punk' is about doing something different and Adam did just that in a time when everyone was doing the same thing and sounding the same and boring. That, in my opinion is 'real punk'...

  • he dislocated his knee doing this.

  • Cute =))

  • This was 'Adam and the ants mark I'. Two years and two lineup changes before they became the new romantic band Adam and and the ants that had silly hits with songs like Prince Charming and Stand and Deliver. 'Adam and the ants mark I' were a punk band who played real punk music.

  • I meant Adam Ant was cute ^_^ Not the band :p

  • sure, internet, when they all went to Bow Wow Wow...

  • punk died so he changed to sell records

  • I love him! Can't help but laugh when he does... it cheers me up no end XD

  • I recognize the drummer (Dave Barbe) and the bassist (the great Andy Warren), but who is the guitar player?

  • I think (tho don't quote me) it was still Mike Ryan on film, but Johnny Bivouac had joined and added some for the soundtrack.

  • 'Mark' Ryan.

  • Adam is such a great actor, shame he hasn't been given more movie roles.

  • Such a great what, now? Seriously?

  • Yes seriously! Not just talking about this movie, seen him in other things and he's good.

  • Adam is so beautiful :']

  • I second that. I love him so much.

  • @theblackparade133 keep it in your pants

  • @theblackparade133 yah dont say!!! :L

  • yeah I found it on torrents for download once actually... fuckin weird movie!!! hehe

  • can't find Jubilee of Adam and the Ants on imdb. Are you sure that's the title of the film?

  • Yes that's the film I saw it.

  • The film's just called "Jubilee", I believe (:

  • We love Adam Ant. Click on our username to check out our exclusive interview at The Q Awards.

    Absolute Radio.

  • Adam is absolutely adorably amazing.

  • I heard that Adam and Billy Crystal were separated at birth.

  • I don't know what all the hoopla that has been going on is about nor do I really care, I just know that this clip is ace. To see Adam younger and more raw is fantastic. I love it. I'm practicing how to roll my r's just like him.

  • Oh btw, one man's "bipolar induced high" is another man's spark of creativity.

  • It seems to me like Adam was just not focused in that that moment........He's a genuis-who knows what he's thinking.I'd give anything to be him back in the day-up-on stage at the Kings concert!@!

  • whyis adam always laughing? no seriously?

  • Apparently, the story goes that Adam simply got a fit of the giggles in what was supposed to be a serious scene in the film. But Adam being Adam, and probably on one of his lengthy Bi-Polar induced highs, simply got the giggles and no matter how many times they tried, he just burst out laughing. Derek Jarman actually thought it was more poignant that he showed such disdain for the serious monologue and left it in. Either way, it's a cracking scene from a great film.

  • haha i like it. i wouldve burst out laughing too.

  • "But Adam being Adam, and probably on one of his lengthy Bi-Polar induced highs"

    You really are fucking clueless.

  • How so ? Get a life and stop flaming on the internet. Now, run along to mummy....

  • Forget 'Adam being Adam' - more like he recognized the dialogue as the pretentious shit that it was and couldn't keep from snickering to himself at Jarman trying to 'preach' to his audience.

It's obvious Adam thought it was ridiculous - you can see him mouthing the crappy dialogue along with the other actor at 4:29. Jarman was trying to 'claim' the punk scene for some great art film cause of his and he just wound up making most of the people in the film look like twats. Adam the exception.

  • Je ne l'aime pas. C'est merde.

  • Sound like the Sex Pistols on this one!

  • Seeing as Adam & The Ants pre date the Pistols by about 3 years, I'd say it was the other way around ;o) Adam was an influential part of the punk scene from it's very inception and Malcolm McLaren saw the potential early on. Thing was, Adam was too strong minded to bow to McLaren's svengali shenanigans and knew his own direction. In the end Mclaren had to steal the original Ants away from Adam (to form Bow Wow Wow) and preyed on talentless others (Rotten & Vicious) to get his way.

  • Actually, I believe Adam was heavily influenced by The Sex Pistols. He was at their first gig and that was the reason he formed the Ants. Well, that's what I heard... Sorry if I'm wrong.

  • he was at there first gig by way of supporting them with bazooka joes

  • Where did I say 3 years ?? Learn to read, you dumb fuck.

Oh, and know your history. You probably weren't even born.

  • 'Seeing as Adam & The Ants pre date the Pistols by about 3 years'

Thats a quote from one of your posts you fat cunt.

  • Fuck me, you still here bangin' on about this ? You really must get a life and spend less time couped up in your darkened room. Arguing on the internet is like appearing on Big Brother. Even if you win, no one remembers you tomorrow. Now, run along little Goth boy....

  • You live in Norwich and like Level 42

  • Wow, with powers of deduction like that, you should join MI5 !!! Has playground name calling come back into fashion, or is it just because you're 12 ?

I suppose next you will be threatening to come round and "sort me out" in person, eh ? PMSL !

Off you trot, child. If you'd like some more rope, just ask ;o)

  • how could that be ,, the pistols opened up for stuart goddards band Bazooka joe before he got the Idea 2 go solo silly.

  • my last post was fo PRECINT on the previous page.

  • "Your new face might start to run?"

  • BY GOD THAT IS IT!! START TO RUN!! Thank you.

Now I can sing the whole freaking song!! YEAH!!

  • I have not been able to figuge out what the hell he says after "Don;t go sitting in the sun ..your new face might___________? Might what? Self distruct,melt,..I have listened to it so many times over the years and now I am into the ant music once again! YEAH! Anywho can someone PLEEEEEZE clear this up for me! Thanks :)

  • he says "start to run" x

  • Well don't go sitting in the sun

Your new face might start to run

    Just forget your make-up scheme

Clean your face with Mr Sheen

  • Isn't that just a brilliant verse !! :o)

  • Love hsi outfit. he looks awesome! He really was quite precious.

  • this film is discustin with all the naked ppl lol, this bits good though

  • Grow up, nudity disgusting? What's under your clothes then? A NUDE BODY... unless you're made of clothes, in which case it's a marvel you are even able to USE a computer, what with your arms being made of cotton fabric...

  • Yes I know, but I don't want to see a load of other people walking around naked.

  • Neither do I...I'm just saying that it's odd to call a film disgusting for containing scenes of nudity. Let's not fight though, I really shouldn't be telling people to grow up, it's not my place (I'm only 16 myself), so I apologize.

  • Well I haven't seen the full film so I'm not calling the full film discusting, I just meant from the bits I've seen. Yeah I don't want to fight neither and it's ok :)

  • One mad film, gives me a real nostalgia buzz and a feeling of sadness.....love seeing london as it was back then, thanks for posting SavvyRose xx

  • Man, that Jack Bircket dude is a real psycho

  • not only a great singer but a grea actor!

  • FYI: This is an excerpt from the Julian Temple film Jubillee, an excellent snapshot of the early punk era in England.

  • The film is by Derek Jarman, entitled Jubilee.

  • Julien Temple did The Great Rock and Roll Swindle and Filth and Fury

  • i'm in love wiv adam ant....

He's so sexy and a lil sweetie at the same tym!!

Not to say an excellent performer!!

    xxxxxxxxx

  • Hawt

  • Adam Ant is the most beautiful man Ive ever seen.

  • Too true . . . bowled me over from the start . . . I was speechless . . . 28 years later I still haven't seen anyone that even comes close.

  • err.... wouldn't "Spastic surgery" have been a more appropriate title?

before anyone gives me shit, i was a real 'antfan'.....anyone heard 'the song of Ruth Ellis'? or 'Boil in the bag man'?

  • I would consider what you call a "real antfan" to be someone who follows the band through all of their changes. It's not like it's a different singer, Adam did both those punk style songs, and his style changed quite a bit over the years. A fan is someone who sticks by the changes. And yes, I have both of those songs, as well as 'Dog Eat Dog' and 'Wonderful' for that matter.

  • @SavvyRose I totally disagree with you, do you mean that a fan has to stick by a band if the band starts to make a totally different type of music... so if Adam Ant joined a boy band i'd have to follow him or anyone else for that matter just because i'd be a fan of there earlier stuff. By all means if they changed their style of music and you happen to like it remain a fan and buy it, but why be a fan of something you don't enjoy? I used an extreme example but you see my point...

  • But of course, that goes without saying...obviously the music is brilli-ANT too (haha, cornball joke, I know)

  • I love how he fell over with such ease. What an awesome performer.

  • I've got this film on vhs, still play it sometimes, I think i would laugh as well in a situation like that. adam looks like a naughty school boy...

  • I like naughty school boys! :)

  • Ahh the perfect Ants, Adam Ant, Johnny Bivouac on guitar, Andy Warren on bass, and the great Dave Barbe on drums.... this line up was simply brilliant live .... then 2 years later silly Adam took Malcolm Mclarens advice too seriously, left the band and went sooo commercial it was ridiculous. Us original ant fans were too embarrased to look at the whole sorry shambles that was 'Wild frontier' onwards ....

  • actually malcom took the band away from adam, and made them into bowwowow. adam did take malcoms advice after that... which is why both adam and bow wow wow ended up copying a bit off of that burundi black single

  • hold up, but wasn't it that Malcolm took the band right from under him?

  • Adam Ant -- laughing at the horrible dialogue.

Also wondering, what the hell am I doing here when I could be getting it on with every 14 year old in the free world?

  • I have been wanting to see this for so long now. Thank you for posting it!

  • I Love this song!

  • What is this movie and why is that guy acting all gay around Adam Ant? He's like, hugging him and touching him...weird. Adam Ant is aces!

  • Oh noes!

My idol of man sexiness is being touched by a gay character!

    Cooties!

  • Love Derek Jarman's "Jubilee". Love this song to Death.

  • OMG!!! This brings back memories. I love Jubilee! Had a copy once, on VHS, machine ate it. Great Film! Adam was great, as were Toyah Wilcox, Jordan and a host of others. Thanx for the memories!!! Karen / Lost Angel

  • adam ant trying to be Johnnie Rotten...and totally failing

  • Think you'll find it was the other way around, seeing as Sid was a talentless gobshite, who Adam pre-dated by a number of years. What tw@t would replace Glen Matlock, a feckin' ace bassist, with a scrawny junkie who had no idea how to play bass and relied on people like Adam, Matlock & Lemmy to teach him the basics ? I'll tell you...Malcolm McLaren, that's who. The 20th Century's greatest Magpie. Stealing from others and passing it off as his own.

  • This movie looks like crap.

  • he keeps gettin stuck on the guitar

  • oh yeah and the "if you go down on your knees" which is implicative to a sexual position and being that it was the devil talking to the person that made it more humorous I am guessing.

  • Join our Derek Jarman community and discuss away in the forums

    SlowMotionAngel dot com

  • sorry for being an idiot, but why is he laughing?

  • I think it was one of those "Had to be there" things. Adam seems to have been tickled about something, it may have to do with something that was said during the filming and possibly a blooper. But he is obviously giggling like a little school girl about something <3

  • He's laughing at the wretched dialogue, the lousy acting and the ridiculous directing.

  • Oh come on now, this is back when Adam was cool...Before that wretched 90s crap...

  • Nobody else could have pulled off the fashion that Adam could.

even now he still has a keen sense of style. what an inspiring person.

  • Love everything about Adam Ant ! The original Ants, the old band, the new band, his solo career, his acting, his singing, himself... just everything !

  • favorite part of that movie is when Kid played by Adam watches himself on television and then licks and kisses the screen...oh MAMA

  • when did he start wearing clothes from the Elizabethan era? in this vid he's wearing punk clothes.

  • At the time the film was made he was a punk. He kind of reinvented himself when he reinvented the Ants after the original line up was stolen by Malcolm McLaren for Bow Wow Wow. The clothes changed a fair bit over the years.

  • They were waaay better when they were like this and not so foppy.

  • Then again, I think Adam's music took an awesome twist or more through his solo career as well.

  • hmmm... I liked the dog-eat-dog type stuff, Though he was great on SNL doing goody-two shoes

  • That's funny, I just got Jubilee delivered on DVD today! I love this so much. Adam Ant - what a hero. Love it.

  • I like that when the guy says "to the lowest common denominator" you can see adam mouthing the line along with him...hes wonderful

  • Cant claim 50 gigs but was none the less a dedicated Ant follower (more interested in looking like Andy Warren though, his hair much better than Phil Oakley) Still listen to all my old bootlegs and the Decda Demo. Jubile brill but not a patch on Scum.

  • did anyone else notice the subtle middle finger move after the bald guy gives them the title 'scum'? Listen for "another face on a cover" right there, adam flicks him off.

  • It's hilarious that Derek Jarman kept all this in the film even with Adam mocking the lines...he propbably though it was a great touch, Adam laughing at it all.

  • The first time I saw this film I wonderd what Adam was laughing at...what the hell was so funny? :)

    Prick up your ears

  • he's a very vital character though but all the same, the point of his character, is to be "dead" and uninterested in everything except of course the media which is why the most alive he ever seems is when he's playing in that clip

  • so does adam actually speak in this film?? p.s he looks sooooooo hot in this clip!!

  • Yeah, he's got a couple lines through the movie. Not much, though, since it's a small part. Still worth watching.

  • I have been a fan for a long time, but I've never seen this b4. Adam Ant rocks=:)

  • OMFG!!!! how darn sexy does he look!!!! who wouldnt want him!!!

  • sex on legs that man.

  • ADAM LOOKS VEEEERY SExxxy!!!LOVELY!

  • this was adams first film ! is that bono the fly havin a giggle at the end !i'm a big fan but never got this film ! (maybe its me !)

  • ohh hes got a lovely bum!!

  • punk clothes1!!! jubilee

  • he didnt actually mean 2 laf on the roof he cudnt help himself lol

  • Any info about this movie?

  • from a film called jubilee released in 1978.directed by derick jarman. avaliable on dvd

  • LOOOOVE! thank you!!

  • Wow, what the hell was that film? ^^ Adam Ant rules, but the guy with the sunglasses, his laugh was classic! ^_^ Lmao!

  • Thanks so much for this. :) I've been looking desperately for old Adam & The Ants stuff, as I'm a new fan and sort of trying to scramble up anything I can get my hands (...mouse pointer) on. I love when he falls backwards! And that old punk song style is something I want to hear more of.

  • Glad to provide! I'm a new fan as well. You can find some other stuff on the MySpace Adam and the Ants sites. A lot of the Ant fans on my page have links to some interesting stuff, as well!

    www.myspace.com/theantsman

  • Ah, cool, I'll check it out! For some reason I never though of scouring through MySpace.

  • i tried finding you on my space. used to follow the ants round this time saw them about 50 times. i have 2 different versions of zerox video plus footage from 77 that was to be included on the ants dvd in sept ,but as now been cancelled.johna bradford ants crew 77/80
