you see my dad useas my youtube account 2 and well he hates chihuahuas.. I think they are the cutest things, but the reason he hates them is because once we had a dog and it got attcacked by a chihuahua and got bite really bad with blood!!!

Listen, I am sorry, my dad uses my Youtube account too and he is Argentinan so he doesnt know that much english, I am his daughter and i think all dogs are adorable! You see, he does not like chihuahua's because when we had our small dog which is not alive any more, a chihuahua attacked it and it left blood all over... sorry 4 my dad!!! It drives me nuts when people pass a chihuahua and say 'they are so cute but yappy or mean' with out fail, the chihuahua they are commenting on is walking along silently or just sitting with its owner. They are just spouting what they have heard or have met one ill behaved chi. I don't know how chi owners put up with peoples rude comments! I own 'big' dogs but I would love to have a chihuahua one day:)

Look i have a problem... My chihuahua is 3 and a half month and she is 1.5 inches bigger that an adult chihuahua, and her mother is a hybrid chihuahua (just like my chihuahua in size), and her mother was living with labrador retrievers and is it possible that she is a labrador retriever mix chihuahua???

A friend of a friends recently rescued a Long Haired Chihuahua from a meat market (my husband and I live in Korea at the moment.) and sent her to the local shelter where I volunteer. I saw her there and couldn't resist! My hubby came home Saturday with her as a surprise :).

She's the best dog I've ever had. Smart, funny, sticks up for herself. It's almost hard not to baby her. She's everything I thought the Chihuahua breed is not. I always had a bad view of this breed until NOW. Best.Dog.Eva

i have three chihuahuas and they're all friendly and not snappy at all. they play with my 3 year old neice and they love getting scrunched up by her. they are not noisy when they are with people they know but are good watch dogs since they bark when there's someone at the door. i guess when you nurture them with love and good discipline, then they get to be good dogs. i guess it applies to all breeds.

I know alot of Chihuahuas can be 'snappy'. But I really don't think it's a breed trait, I think it's down to the owners and how you bring them up. My nan had a Chihuahua, a female... she lived until 14 years old. Anyway, she had a buddy, a yorkshire terrier who was about 4 years younger than her. When the Chihuahua (Lady was her name) got to about 10 years old, my nan got a cat (the first cat Lady had ever lived with) and she was fine! not snappy or anything, she really didn't take much notice

my neighbour has a chihuahua and it barks ALL THE TIME.

it really aggresive no wonder cuz when it just barks a little, the owner just taps her her head a bit harsh. i think thats the reason of aggression! and every dog is like you make him its not that chihuahuas are like really bad. well they can be if you raise them like that like any other dog, but if you raise it good it will be a happy family member just like any other dog! :D

I have to agree!! I have a Chihuahua and she is now 13 month old. I have her since she was 9weeks old and I heard her bark ONCE since then at age 12 weeks. She never ever barked again since then. We visit dog school three times a week and we do miniture agility, obedience training and trick dog show training. It is so much fun and Jackie is the most even tempered dog I know and she gets along with any other dog no matter what size!

yup like i said, the poor neighbourghood chihuahua gets too much hit on the top of her head. if you just stick a finger out, he will bite you REALLY strong, so strong that your blood comes out. :O

and shes really annoying from the barking.

I love my chi!

They really are nice dogs, they are friendly, playful and full of love!!! They only reason other ppl think they are mean is cuz they pamper them cuz they are like...pocket dogs to them.And then when the pampered dog gets mistreated, they attack cuz they scared.thats y ppl think theyr mean >.>. You need to be kind to the chihuahua and love it, but when it gives puppy dog eyes 4 stuff he/she cant have, dont buy it.

It's a myth that chis are snappy or defensive.

But they were bred to be companion animals and are very social.

If not socialized they do get defensive of the one person they *do* bond with (their pack), but that's natural pack (dog) instinct.

The same would happen with a lot of dogs if they were raised with just one person in isolation (in an apartment or whatever) and otherwise not socialized.

I'm on my second chihuahua, I take them everywhere I can, and they are sweet as can be.

Her Diet comments do not warn of the usual problems with chihauhuas. I have an apple-headed, pure-bred, long-coat chihuahua and he is the most finicky eater I have ever seen in a dog. Yet, he constantly eats stuff off the floor, this is not good for him because things get stuck in his digestive track that he can't pass and also, the human food upsets his stomach so much that he stops eating or gets massive bowel movement problems.

Most chihuahua's I have encountered are like this as well.
