  • I live in Southeast Iowa and I've had several confirmed sightings of pileated woodpeckers.

  • I thought I was in woodpecker territory, but now I think I may actually BE a woodpecker! What should I do!?

  • You guys are amazing! Thank you for sharing this amazing video, first time I've heard of you. I hope I make it there someday.

  • there's one alive pecking the chimney in my house right now. Then again it pecks so fast and from what I see in this video, it doesn't peck fast (o_o ) so what's pecking my chimney??

  • @pinoyALLmotorEVOIXMR It's probably a different kind of Woodpecker. A smaller one with a regular sized neck.

  • they sooooo cuteeeeeeee ,i never seen one live :(

But they cute reminds me those 80s/punk rocker

    <3

  • I had a pileated on my back deck th is am

  • One person didn't see and amused by Woody Woodpecker cartoons in his/her childhood

  • @WeCanKnowDottCom You're disgusting and full of bullshit. Reported as spam.

  • They are in Knightdale, NC along the Neuse river. I've had more than one sighting of these wonderful birds.

  • How do these birds pound a hole in a tree without crushing their skulls? It must take tremendous force to do that, and they have hallow bones?

  • @5277407There is research into this... Also why they don't get headaches. See doi:10.1136/bjo.86.8.843

  • i live in wisconsin and i have one haning around my yard??he is a sight to see?? and yes he is noisy??lol thanx for the little info on the woodpeaker, i read they are making a comeback here in wisconsin, and do the migrate??? thanx

  • That was awesome! Interesting seeing them in a different setting. Ours navigate around in blizzards and in snowy trees!

  • Great Job.

  • that's an awfully big pecker!

with all that hard wood laying around i can see why a big pecker is needed.

those big peckers are pros with their tongues too. they sure know how to use their tongues on that hard wood.

  • I was just picking pears in the backyard.Up on top of the ladder with an extension so I could reach the big one...when all a sudden I heard a pileated`s sound and turned to see it.Out from the trees it shot squacking wildly then right behind it was a red hawk...zeroing in.The pileated did a loop like fighter jet squacking away and the hawk followed only a few feet behind, again the pileated did another loop turning to it`s side this time and shot back into the treeline escaping
