To all who thinks hes using these as off-road tires, you would be half right. I'd bet money hes using those bald tires on that really wide wheel for flotation for going mud hole driving. If you are anybody who knows anything about physics the actual pressure exerted over a larger volume of displacement is much higher given the same amount of air pressure of a smaller volume of displacement. That same tire on a 8" wide wheel would have far less air volume in it with the same tire pressure.

@Batojiri1 Everything you said is right, this is just to simplify it for others. In order to float you have to displace more water than your item weighs. Example, if your ball weighs 2 lbs but is able to displace 3 lbs of water, it floats.

This works out becouse the tire had been previously run over inflated or on too narrow a rim thus wearing out the center, SO.... now on this 'new' POS wide rim bowing the tire the unworn sides are used! *rocket science 101 (or 'rednecks mounting tire after 100 beers' *you choose :-p)

You actually make the tire shorter when you use a wheel that's too big, so any volume increase is thus negated (not the same as flotation).

Not only that, the tire won't stay on the wheel, the wheel isn't protected by the tire, and the sidewall is damaged easier.

Flotation is achieved from contact patch surface area, and if you can't air the tire down the contact patch doesn't get bigger.

A skinny tire can get a lot of flotation with low psi since the tread starts elongating like tank tracks.

Definitely a dangerous way to do it, with something so big that can kill you in a snap, but I've seen it done this way before and have even helped do it, it's an old school MacGyver method that works. Like the Redneck disclaimer in the video went "Don't try this at home!" --

As for the RIM being WIDER than the TIRE, a wider rim and ballooned sidewalls means more volume for air inside the tire, which even at a low pressure still means MORE VOLUME = MORE AIR = MORE FLOTATION. "Baloon tire"
