I have a friend that has a 5 chime, we were about a block from the depot. we saw some railfans packing up and getting back into their car. he blew that horn and it was amusing watching these guys about kill themselves trying to get out of their car and get set up befor the nonexsistant train got there.

but the sound is more agressive with a bass tone.

There was a guy in my area that has this setup. We didnt know he had them and when was driving by he sounded the horns in a crowded parking lot at the DMV. I nearly soiled my pants... That was a wild day. The look on everyones faces... It was funny but it pissed off a lot of folks. As for me I now carry a second set of draws in case he shows up again...

A. He's driving on a rutted, uneven, wet dirt road and he's messing with switches, etc. It's not the horn interfering with motor function.

B. These aren't kids with a Civic, they're adults and they're being pretty responsible about the location, etc. so I would say chances are probably 100% that he's wearing ear protection.

Very cool sound, original and real..and he used it in the same manner a locomotive would, with variable blasts. Nice one!

I think that horn would exceed DOT db levels for any vehicle in the USA. If you look closely at the way the truck is driven, I would say that because his rig is not a "quiet cab" EMD, instead being a GM Avalanche, the horn itself is screwing with his equilibrium. Thus, causing poor motor functions. Not SAFE.

Ed K is a horn collector. He rebuilds, refurbishes, and collects these airhorns. About 95% of what's sold on eBay are not actually train horns. The real things are expensive, and difficult to obtain most of the time. I have two S-5T horns, and hunting them down is 90% of the hobby. And we don't drive around town scaring people with our horns either, that's for idiots. -Jeffrey
