Great rendition. I USED to get this song confused with Minuet in G by Bach. Still, my words to this song are, "That song is the Minuet. It plays in a 4-4 Set."

This music is not called lovers concerto . it was called that, by the band in the 60s who put words to it . It is actually written by Bach , the 18th century classical composer . So now you know
Linzer and Randall were the writers who " stole " Bach's melody , gave it a beat and issued it as a pop song sung by the Toys.. The music is Bach, from his notebook on Anna Magdelana . ( look it up mate , but just don't think three black girls from the 60s could come up with a melody like this . This music can only comes from a master .)
it was hardly stealing, it was (and is) in the public domain ... Linzer and Randall never pretended it was theirs ... besides, everyone would have recognized it as Bach in 1965 upon hearing it because people were better educated back then
btw, black girls from the '60s were capable of coming up with lots of masterful melodies - your comment has racist and sexist overtones ... you must be British
Just because something is years old does not mean that those who use the melody should warrant any acclaim for it . They may have a right to use it , but it's still not theirs . I also don't believe anyone would have known it back then , even less now . And no woman could ever have came up with such a melody ( much less black ones , who know nothing of composing, of playing , and who have probably never held an instrument in their lives. ( it's still the same today ) You're wrong in everyway
Bull .. If my name appeared on a recording , people naturally would assume it was mine . They wouldn't know , or research, or even care for, it's origin . I can think of a dozen cases of this . Bigot I may be , but you're a buffoon
Strauss - you're an idiot. The Toys "A Lover's Concerto" was #1 in the U.S. for 3 weeks in the fall of 1965.(Lord knows how long it was in the top ten).
And PS, Bach got the most of his melodies from listening to music in Italy and France.
Look it up mate! Furthermore, I believe that the Italians and French got it from the black slaves brought over from Africa in the early 1700s. So you see, the melody has made a complete circle and wound back up in the hands of three beautiful voices.
Dudley . you're a muppet . There comes a time when a composer uses his brain and talent and turns nothing into something . Bach may have been inspired by others , but there comes a point when hard thinking/inspiration produces results . To actually believe that jugle tribesmen produced melody of this quality, exposes you as the clown you are. Black Africans only produce drumming rythmn , not real tunes, it's not their nature , and as for 3 silly black women .. What ! You're a cretin Dudley
Herr Straussenbergenstein. Unless you have some sort of "time machine" you can't tell me anything. Bach or Christian Petzold, pick 'em.
As far as recording artists of "A Lover's Concerto," try the Toys, the Lennon Sisters, the Supremes, Sarah Vaughn, the Delfonics, Kelly Chen (Chan), and a host of others.
The words to the melody were written by Sandy Linzer and Denny Randell in 1965 and recorded ORIGINALLY by THE TOYS.
So smarten-up dufus. Give credit where credit is due. Melody AND words.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
I'm aware of the Bach/Petzold dispute actually, but until I perfect my time machine , I'll go with Bach the master. I'm also well aware that the Toys were first to record it ( I have the record ) , but the melody is /was/ and always will be , the gift of a maestro , a gift that three black girls would be be unable to write in a million years .
What's the comment about (" much less black ones...) It's so racist amnd discriminating that I feel sick just reading it. In this age I'm totally disgusted that anyone can still make such comments. Go live on anothe planet with your kind.
There's nothing racist about it . European classical music ( of which this piece came from ) was written almost 100% by whites . It is not a black music . I'm only stating the truth .

Linzer and Randall never claimed (nor received acclaim for) the melody - only the tempo and lyrics
...and you're a narrow-minded bigot in every way
