  • I love how during Garys ripping solo that cameraman was focused on THE OTHER CAMERAMAN!!! How professional!!

  • that drummers on fire

  • Listening to this on vinyl ^_^ scratched a bit but it's still good

  • Love Gary's vibrato at 2:25

  • What a coincedence, playing 'Jailbreak' in a country that was meant

to be a penal colony.LOL.I understand why AC/DC did their song

    'Jailbreak' being from Australia.

  • SCOTT GORHAM IS THE EPITOME OF COOL CAT!

  • This band was the loudest real shit around. Kicking butt from Mosman to Mount Druitt. The Steps of the Sydney Opera House were bouncing up and down in time with Phils Bass notes, the kick drum and the dual attack of screaming guitars. I know because I was there and it was like god was speaking to me in his true form and shape a Black Irish Bass playing Mother Fucker, igniting a passion for life and thumping rock in a 14 year old boy that still burns to this very day. Thanks God

  • This song will never get old God bless Phil and the beutifull music he wrote and his musicans they are all so good

  • I'm GLAD Thin Lizzy is still going today, even without Phil. If they weren't still playing I wouldn't get to see them Live this November. Sure Phil won't be there and I will be missing out but I won't be missing out on THIN LIZZY!!!

  • @Kewln00b Seen them in January and although i imagine it not to be the same without big Phillo, (Obviously) They still put on one hell of a show and i fucking loved every minute of it so yeah you will have a great time i am sure :)

  • Awesome!

  • Phil and Garry for ever...

  • I rocked to these guys in high school boy I miss those days.

  • Rock and roll == smoke machines

  • im 14 and i think lizzy are simply the best band ever. ive visited phils grave and statue. seen the reformed lizzy live. have learned most of the hits on guitar. i also have a pick used by scott. rock on!

  • @warningbrosstudios then you're being raised right lol. when I was 14 they were also my favorite band as well as the beatles, and Prince, mind you this was when Nirvana was at its peak lol. In many of the songs if not all, Phils lyrics are ... poetry

  • i dont like... vocal's hair and mustache hahahaha... but thin lizzy is amazing!! :D

    great sound!! great band!!

and the music today is patetic ¬¬ justin bieber... lady gaga... all these shits can suck my balls ¬¬ hahahaha thin lizzy rocks!!

  • Yeah im 16, have been listening to Lizzy for as long as i can remember... My dad can't hear so well. He says its because of all the lizzy conserts he went to and not wearing earplugs. And he doesn't regret it one bit! =)

  • RIP PHIL

    RIP GARY

  • I love these guys so much, But wasnt entirely impressed with this rendition....

  • Yep my daughter and most of her mates in 6th form have lizzy on their ipods. This man and his music will never die!

  • was at this concert it was fkn great

  • @filldoddsy1 lucky bastard! :)

  • I was there 32 years too late :(

  • R.I.P. Phil! I was lucky to meet them at Warner Bros. Records in New York in 1979. Ah, the joys of my rock writer days... They were a great band, live or recorded. They will be missed.

  • @amerikanprincess yes you are very lucky

  • GO SYDNEY !! man to bad i was born in 1984 in sydney australia !!

  • Is Phil Lynot The Coolest Guy On Earth? Take care, God bless...

  • This is Lizzy...You can just go on and on and on and...their catalouge is massive with one number after another rockin' harder...the best ever! Never tiring!

  • A black Irishman made some of the most intelligent heavy rock/metal ever

  • Are you OUT There !!

God has them in heaven now

Lynott, Moore, Bonham, Hendrix what a line up.

Saw Lizzy live and Lynott flashed that bass right in my eyes, easily as good as Freddie.

  • GREAT!!!!!

  • this song should be played at every state penitentary at midnight. it should have a calming effect.

  • Wow!

  • Saw Thin Lizzy with Nazareth in Dallas. What an incredible concert. "Jailbreak" and "Hair Of The Dog" tours together, in the same night!

  • When Phil says "Hey, You! Good lookin' female...C'mere!!" the blonde girl in the audience is looking to her left and to her right..."Who, me?" - brilliant! I Saw Lizzy at Reading Festival (my home town) in 1975 as a nine-year old kid - never seen my mother (yep!) look at a guy like that before - my dad was in the beer tent - she was mesmerised just the same as all the teenage girls were!!!

  • The thing is I WANT to be around!

  • I remember being at a disco in the late sixties/early seventies sitting next to a group of guys having a good drink and a laugh. Then they got up, picked up their guitars and started to play . Thats when I first saw Thin Lizzy

  • He died on christmas day after collapsing becuase of a seroius infection he got thru drug abuse. RIP

  • At what age did Phil Lynott die and how, OD? I want a fan to tell me, not some Wiki article..Their double live LP was a favorite back in the day..thanks

  • why the fuck was i born in 94 and not 64

  • @TheRucklePuckle id rather be born in like 1943 - then i would see the stones an beatles in 63-66 and stones 70s beyond and all the great bands. inbetween 1958 - 1980

  • Evo prave rasturaljke!!!!!!!

  • This is how I want to remember him...

  • The best irish rock band of history.

Phil Lynott is brazilian and god

  • great song and great band thin lizzy is criminally underrated

  • 4:37 Me?

  • @kemicon Yup!

  • I come from Sydney and can remember this concert happening (didnt go) but Im pretty sure it was for FREE as well .Great huh Thin Lizzy Live and Free.

  • Erred the good version of the song (featured in grand theft auto 4)?

  • love and repent to Jesus christ, Jesus loves you all, love you all

  • this awsome the best thing is i was there will never forget that day got so many live pics too R,I.P phill and gary

  • I'm still waiting for someone to write a better song than Jailbreak.

  • @ehowie

    Don't hold your breath...

  • my kids are 9 and 7 and they know who Thin Lizzy is i must be doin something right LOL

  • @Womanizer5150 not with the account name of 'womanizer5150' you ain't.

  • @Womanizer5150 What's that? Going to work and not supervising them LOL

  • @Womanizer5150 Mine is 11 years old and he loves it,! Yes we are doing it all right, no doubt, lol..

  • @Womanizer5150 two weeks ago in school there was a speech by someone from the library how to search right for the skilled work and she asked us to search for thin lizzy

'cause it's a band from the 70's and noone will know them. i just laughed at her for this bloody stupid statement haha

  • I was at this gig! Some fool up the back threw an empty wine bottle somewhere into the crowd just after we arrived. Anyway the music was so great we got over it quick. Wish I could have grabbed that fool and kicked the tripe out of him. RIP Maestros Phil Lynott and Gary Moore.

  • @MrJMontrose

-Damn you!!! ;o) That must have been fxxking amazing!! *jealous*

  • @catta76swe Man it was an experience. Except for that drop kick who threw the wine bottle and then disappeared into the throng. The only time I ever saw Gary Moore play live was at that gig. FYI - 2SM is a Sydney AM Radion station who were riding high back in those days. They put on these free concerts once a year and the main act was always a big surprise. A mate of mine got tipped off about Lizzy. The Opera House forecourt is an awesome location. Have a good one - as we say down here.

  • I LOVE the energy they put out in this video. I'm not sure they were under-rated, but they weren't fully appreciated for the talent that went into their songs. I'm pretty sure that my fellow cover musicians, the first time they started to figure out The Boys Are Back, like me were saying, WTF? I didn't know you could make these chords work together. LOL

    R.I.P. Gary. Thank you.

  • Hey, is Gary Moore the guy who was In live and dangerous, or was that Brian Robertson?

  • @zziggymaan No robbo plays on live and dangerous

  • @Saillcoosp i thought so. thanks dude.

  • Thanks a lot fkn classic

  • wtf was that at 4:35-4:40?!? hahaha

  • A very underrated band. One of my top ten favorites. Long live the music of Thin Lizzy.

  • RIP Gary Moore ...

    A LEGEND has gone ...

  • we will miss your music Gary!!!!

  • Rest in Peace. Phil and Gary.

  • so sad - my first lp ever was lizzy jailbreak, when gary replaced Roberson they struck a beauty with BLACK ROSE - what a talent in all respects... take it to the skies GARY!

  • RIP Gary

  • These guys are amazing. Its like Warren Zevon. Those of us who actually know about them are the biggest fans of anyone. And I personally like the fact no one knows about them. It makes us fans even more cooler

  • Is This concert avaible on CD or DVD ???

  • damn they really never broke the US, hahahahah thats the biggest audience ive ever seen they play

  • No shit, i know this would've been epic live. This is great....too sad i wasn't there...

  • ohohoho... Super take!

  • "tonight is gonna be a jailbreak somewhere in this town" wherelse can u do a jailbreak but in jail?!?!?!?!?!

  • @AlegouveiaII What if there are 2 or more jails in the town?

  • @arturvarejao still a redundance, if it's gonna be a jailbreak, it can only be in a jail!!

  • @AlegouveiaII Yeah this is still a redundancy man, but man, sing it out loud: "Tonight is gonna be a jailbreak somewhere in this town" God may forgive this "Artistic license". Peace mate

  • @arturvarejao hahahahaha...peace!

  • i really want to hear what they played after that build up at the end...

  • A *Great Show*! This Tour arrived in my Hometown Area .. San Francisco, Ca./Oakland at The Oakland Raider Col. July 4TH, 1979 & W/Gary Moore & Scott Gorham & their Dual Lead Guitar Attack, It *Kicked Ass*! Sadly Gary left the Band after this Concert due to a disagreement with Phil later that night & THIN LIZZY Toured with Midge Ure from Ireland in his spot until Snowy White came into the picture as did The New 1980 Release .. *Chinatown*!

  • saw them in Dundee when i was young and he used to have a mirror on his Bass plate and he shown it on me and looked up to us, ill never forget that, ill add that moore was not with him at that time. Brian Robertson was it not, Same surname as me Robertson Clan Scotland

  • saw them in Dundee when i was young and he used to have a mirror on his Bass plate and he shown it on me and looked up to us, ill never forget that

  • ....Yeah I remember being at this concert , I was 18 years old back then ....we had some wild times....Was so fuckin out of it !...

  • They don't make 'em like this anymore! Simply amazing!! That is all.

  • @RomanoNervoso They do, but you don't hear about them

  • sikke da en lorte lyd (in english: what shitty sound) men ellers fed performance (nice performance) rip phil. wish you were still here....

  • old times... old times.... :) ;(

  • gt-Scott Gorham and Brian Robertson,no Gary.

  • yay.. go christine... wish it was me...

  • 'Tonight there's gonna be a jailbreak, somewhere in this town'

I would have thought its a safe bet to assume it was going to happen at the local prison

  • nice suit!! fuckin rock!!!

  • Bass

  • lol 3:59

  • I don't think so... Looks very different. With the curly hair and all. Different way of sitting behind the drums all together.

  • who's playing the drums here??

  • @ludwigpearl Brian Downey I believe... fantastic isn't he?! They don't make em like that anymore

  • @ludwigpearl its not brian downey. wasnt able to make the trip to australia for health reasons. cant remember who this is tho

  • @kjrossblackmore

Mark Nauseef- big in the world music/percussion stakes i believe now. his performance here depping for Downey is frighteningly good. he's all over lynott!

  • I can't believe it I was actually at this gig as a 15yr old and I still have a Thin Lizzy mirro badge, the band were throwing out into the audience..and I am still going to concerts & festivals and still get into the front row even now.

  • @andreak63 Dude sod the front row mosh pit and wall of deaths all the way

At the front just get crushed n thats not enjoyable

  • Philomena's boy was the most charismatic front man ever. You are sadly missed and always loved. RIP brother

  • They played this way too fast.

  • @JustinMarkBailey who cares? it's still awesome!...and better than half the stuff that's out there today!

  • I saw a big Australian act of the time 'Skyhooks' around '78, near same size crowd as this. Without security being the wiser a guy climbed one of the Opera House shells to the top and mooned the whole crowd, music was stopped till he came down. Band then played a song 'Why Dont You All Get Funked', all the crowd sang along changing the words a touch...coulda be heard all across Sydney.lol.

  • the 11 people who gave this video a thumbs down should be shot at sight

  • @enternollie93 I am a nonviolent person in general, but I'd have to agree in this case. How could you not love this song? Thin Lizzy rocked the Earth to its core!

  • @bestgodzillaman defenitly, they just can't make music like this anymore, and that sucks :(

  • @enternollie93 It DOES SUCK that Phil Lynott died, and now Thin Lizzy will never produce another CD with him! That Band absolutely Rocked the Solar System! It's good to see that people still appreciate that kind of High Energy Rock! Peace to you then! Keep on listening!

  • @enternollie93 agree completly mate

  • Awesome song!

  • Shit! it Worked

  • Wish I could have seen these guys...I was around...I'm kicking myself for not going. Just regular kids playing fab rock and roll...no posers, no horseshit.

  • Just found a working 3.1.3 Jailbreak, its easy, and it takes about 2 minutes, add this to your URL: /watch?v=EZE3r47VZqA

  • What a magistral band. Its a kinda sad that the today's posers doesn't know about this masterpiece.

  • Shivering...

respect to the director....old technologies but a high sense of what's going on stage...

  • Moore and Gorham!!

  • Back then a fairly large band could go on stage and rock out without anything more than kickass riffs, great songs and badass attitude (ok. some pyrotechnics involved but the looked kind of awkward).

  • they made skinny jeans look way more fashionable back then

  • How are these guys not in the Hall of Fame?Especially Phil? And Scott Gorham,Or Brian Downey?Stupid.

  • @clwilu94 Because the people who control the vote are wankers! No Jethro Tull, no Thin Lizzy, no Outlaws, Deep Purple, Small Faces, Humble Pie, but of course, there's a place for Blondie, Abba, The Jackson Five, etc....

  • man, i'll never be able to walk towards the opera house anymore and not freak out that thin lizzy had played there

  • Aww .. the good old days... and... Phil was one of a kind was 'n he?
