I started listening to The Velvet Underground after we’d been touring in North America and Canada. When I was in Canada I went to see a friend and she was crazy about The Velvet Underground, as only Velvet Underground fans are. So I started listening then and loved it. 'Pale Blue Eyes' is just an incredible song. It’s so emotional, so wretched in how heartbroken it is. It’s beautiful. Andrea x
On July 18, 1988, while on holiday with her son in Ibiza, Spain, Nico had a minor heart attack while riding a bicycle, and hit her head as she fell. A passing taxi driver found her unconscious, and had difficulty getting her admitted to local hospitals. She was incorrectly diagnosed as suffering from exposure, and she died the next day. X-rays later revealed a severe cerebral hemorrhage as the cause of her death.
someone thinks this relates to the lil boy singing? its clear that they dont have clue what good music really is... neither Beiber or anyone else can sing with the same emotion that Lou put into every song that he wrote... every version he sings of every song is different depending on where he was that day..
I'm in the motor city.. feel free to stop on by for lessons your daddy should have taught before your 11 b-day last year.. will be my pleasure..
hey dipstick do u remeber me??? im the guy u thought i was 11! Well i said no fuckin guys!!!! do u want me to come over to ur sorry-ass country and beat ur ass, and who the hell lysten to the velvet underground???
PS: thanks for this great version: YOU TUBERS ARE THE REAL RECORD LABELS...greed-master KLEIN just gave us the Rolling Stones Get Yer YAYAS with the "cop is a criminal.." lyric CENSORED yet again, after 40 years, freedom of expression really catching on these days, peace man, pass the prison terms, keepin it real, yeah man, get those police cameras installed too at all street corners, yeah so rockin dudes like whoa like hey how come my car's towed like that's not cool hey Miranda?!
Nico struck her head falling from a moto-bike, then died of bleeding within the brain, called a hemorrhagic type stroke...she was gifted & neglected, & stupidly villianized by the usual puritans, blobs, hog-sloppers...if so many darling Americans object to Nico, Lou, VU, et al
why don't they excersise their vaunted freedom, and laissez-faire THEY CAN JUST NOT BUY THEIR MUSIC, & spend their mouths & money elsewhere, rather than blurt and blob for censorship prissydom..
You sound rather narrow minded. Perhaps you would be happier not participating in a forum where people might have views different than yours. One more thought................spell check is your friend.
OHhhhhhh I'm sorry---isn't there some feckless, fuckless fine I have to pay to
all these darling fascists? I'll be "happier" when leaving a country where 75% of its people don't believe in Darwin's theory, or think Polanski should be "castrated"---look at all those open minded Americans, who want to censor to this day Velvet Underground lyrics and covers, and let 50 million people go w/o medical care, oh I mean "access to fraud and scam" when sick. "Rather."
Well I'll just pack up my points w/ me to Europe: they don't censor as much, don't jail as much, & have A LOT MORE SEX, & I know everyone'll miss me terrible-lllyy:
everybody have fun, & NSA, the drinks're on me--oh wait, you have the budget to buy your OWN.."7 times the CIA" & no warrants needed(y'all should look @ LOU REED's "fucking porcupines" interview from Holland) bye au revoir/SHANTI & Freud & Darwin are right & MS. Daly & REV. Falwell-Bush wrong
i know wiki says that, but i dunno if thats really the case....firstly in his book, between thought and expression lou says the person it was written for had hazel eyes and shelly supposedly had pale blue eyes...and then patti smith in her version says it was writen by lou for a swedish boy, so who really knows!!....i'm guessing it wasn't written for a current girlfriend, afterall its about adultry...anyway, it's a beautiful song
I read it in a biography by viktor bokris, it said there that he and shelly were secret lovers long after college, while she was married, so that's the adultry part I guess. I do believe it's about shelly, as he wrote more about her it's very likely
@nzstrawman - Patti was being funny. She's been known to do that (or be disingenuous, as in the time she said WE THREE was about something other than the time she dated Tom Verlaine and Allen Lanier at the same time). She was in Sweden when she said it.
lou reed never said this was about her. and nico didnt commit suicide she had a stroke or something when she was riding her bike and fell and hit her head. also i think she had green eyes. anyway you're totally wrong.
"Pale Blue Eyes" is one of my favorite songs of all tme, and this Live At Max's Kansas City version is I've ever heard ---the lyrics and music go straight to my heart, especially these words:
man, there were so many square undercover weirdos at this show, pimps in ice-glazed undercoats, and mostly whores galore in stetson hats and chailmail and spurs, and I'm stuck full o junk in the men's room, squirmin' readin' the obitch eraries. yeah, that was 1970, stuck full o junk in the men's room, no where were the cookies shavin' me closer
Awesome song..who cares what some peckerwood who's opinion is useless. One of my favorites
