Actually it's a cover of a 60s song - Randy & The Rainbows - 'Denise' (1963). The band must have already recorded the song, and afterwards some bright spark must have realized that Debbie singing about loving someone named 'Denise' may prompt some people to assume that she's gay! So they renamed this cover version 'Denis' - but she still sounds like she's saying 'Denise'!
