Dang... I'm beginning to want the Double Soprano G just so I can do this. Would a Triple C suffice? I mean, the same key and everything, no transposing down or up or anything. If I really were to get a multichamber ocarina, I really do want C to be my first one.

@aniki91344 You can play canon rock on a triple Alto C ocarina. It has been done, look for Hao Lun Hsu's Canon Rock video. The sheet music is even posted on TON somewhere. However, the triple ocarina version is harder to play.

By the way, you can play canon rock on a SINGLE soprano G ocarina. It doesn't need to be a double. I just used a Double because I dont have any single Soprano G's. It also makes some parts easier to play on a double, but originally it was played on single ocarinas.

@aniki91344 Sort of. I have played it on a Mountain G before, and so do some other TON members.

There are a few notes that are out of range though. The low notes, which require the subholes of a 12-hole ocarina, and the high notes, which require the highest note of a 12-hole Soprano G + "extra" notes from special fingering.

The Double Soprano G is the ideal ocarina to play it on. But you can do it on a Mountain G ocarina if you don't mind skipping over a few notes.

That app works with you blowing into the microphone, so I don't think the iTouch would work for it... unless you bought a separate mike.

(At least the Ocarina app made by Smule anyway...)

actually i had it on my itouch before if was stolen. the one made by smule. if you have a mic then you can blow but if you don't you can just tap. its a bit harder to play by just tapping but you can get pretty much the same results

far from it, in fact. that is a 12 hole double ocarina. It has two chambers, and can play more than two octaves of notes. The Ipod touch ocarina is a simulation of a four hole ocarina, and can not play even half the notes that this ocarina can.

Yo! K88 I'm finally getting my own. It be a Sweet patato. I heard thats probably a hard one to start off with, but according to Docjazz it's somthing that takes some time getting used to but once one gets it down it's easy to master. What do you think?

The sweet potato, in my opinion, is the easiest ocarina to start on. Especially the 10-hole and 12-hole ocarinas.

This is the case, because the number of holes is same or close to the number of fingers you have, and the fingering is logical. It makes sense, unlike pendant ocarinas (4~6-holes) which involve memorising random finger patterns.

I recommend Maparam and Focalink for quality 12-hole Sweet Potato ocarinas ;-)

Well the thing you must understand is that the "tenor, alto, soprano" naming system that STL uses is actually quite incorrect and misleading.

There are many different types of "Tenors" and "Sopranos". There is Soprano C, Soprano G ocarinas.

This ocarina is a DOUBLE SOPRANO G ocarina. It plays both the notes of a Soprano G, and higher notes (of Soprano C). I hope you understand =S
