Excellent video! You're so right on, Think Fast really suffered because it had a terrible host, they really should have brought in Marc Summers or the guy from Nick Arcade to do this. Or anyone else in the room actually. There had to be a spare host hangin out form GUTS or Legends of the Hidden Temple. And BTW, the expression on that girls face (who wants to grow taller) was priceless when she realizes what a cunt the nick host is lol.
This guy did the voice of the black comic on The Simpsons who did the "black guys drive like this/white guys drive like this" joke, so he gets a free pass for life.
As Kid, I thought this game show was cool! After seeing the break down like this, I would disagree that it was the worst kid game show ever! It is absolutely the worse produced kid's game show ever!! Way too many production errors took away from the game...Also, I hated the fact that they replaced the time bomb in the locker room with the Red Herring. It took away from the difficulty of the END Game dramitically.
@silvbolt I'd argue that the Locker Room was harder on the Lackey version, especially as compared to early Carrington episodes (at the start, if you found the Time Bomb, your partner got 40 seconds instead of 30. It was later changed to 30 instead of 20). On Lackey's version, you had to get an additional match, and you had much more ground to cover since they had a larger studio. However, there was still no strategy involved and the contestants may had seen previous episodes.
was this the same game show where you have to listen to a couple of bum couch potato burping uncles burp and have to go pat them on their back and repeat the same burps that you heard?
I don't know about you, but to me, the funniest part of this video was Carrington's ridiculous smile when he was juggling the bomb...that never gets old to me.
But yeah, this show really sucked. At least it gave us a neat slogan: "Remember, if you can't think twice--THINK FAST!"
Nick Arcade was a hell of a lot worse than this. All the complaining about the Locker Room - the Nick Arcade bonus round didn't even WORK half the time.
michael Carrington was a Camp Counselor at a camp I went to as a kid, years before he did this crappy show. He was actually hysterical in real life, and not a nerd at all. That show should have let him be himself. He was a really funny and cool guy. But they made him an annoying nerd on a show with no direction. Poor guy.
I think this can come back. It should be planned a bit differently.
Maybe the first two games for $50, the next two for $100, and the Brain Bender for $200. Also if the locker room played like Classic Concentration where you would call numbers to make a match.
There was a show that came on Saturday morning on NBC in the 80s called Its your Turn or Its your move and it was bad. It was siblings doing a newlywed type game. They were always annoying brats that slapped each other and stuff. That might be the worst ever.
Having seen quite a few tapings of this in Philadelphia at WHYY, I loved a lot of things, but even at age 12, I knew it wasn't exactly the slickest thing ever produced.
Thanks for bringing back a lot of fun memories, and laughing at all the gaffes!
Maybe you could say this. Think Fast was so incredibly cheesy that it actually made the show worth watching.
While I agree that Michael Carrington was really shy on-camera, you have to admit it was the first and only game show he ever hosted and didn't have alot of experience. I've heard that he was much more personable during the commercials and often talked to people in the audience and told jokes. The guy was a comedy writer from Brooklyn after all.
I may have been harsh in the description, but those were all the reasons I watched. I would definitely put it in the "so bad it's good" category. If I tuned in and saw it was Skip Lackey hosting I would immediately change the channel.
dont know who is more stupid here the host or the kids. also 3:05 looks like the kid swore lol
