  • My son has been doing the same thing the past couple of days with the throwing his head back like that. He had been doing a weird head drop thing a couple of weeks ago and we had a 24 hour EEG and it came back normal, now he is throwing his head back. I'm going to take him back to his Pediatrician this week and ask about Sandifers. Thanks for posting this video!!

  • Put him in the high chair. Duh

  • Yes this can certainly be Sandifer's....but the head drops look far different and more serious...potentially. I would ask for a 24 hr eeg. Maddie had one and had episodes on tape...no seizures. Hopefully he will do the head drops on eeg. Why did he have an early eeg and why did they give him meds for seizures with out knowing?

  • @SJGP123 I took the head drop video to his neurologist and he ordered a stat awake EEG, we did it for 2.5 hours. He did do a couple of the head drops during the EEG, but the EEG was normal. He concluded that they were not epileptic in nature and he would grow out of them. They have gotten a lot less frequent, and when he does have them they are not as severe.

The activity in this video was very frequent this day so I took him to the pediatric ER and showed him the video...

  • @SJGP123 @SJGP123 ...he thought they looked like complex partial seizures and consulted my sons neurologist and they decided to start him on the anti-epileptic until I could get back in with my neuro (we go on Tuesday). In the mean time, he had his 9 month well baby check with his regular ped this morning and we were discussing the episodes when he had one. I also showed her the video and since he was eating during it, it made her think of Sandifer's and put in a GI referral. She told me to..

  • @SJGP123 ..google it in the mean time so I could learn more about it. That's when I came across your video. All of the seizure videos I watched, especially complex partial seizures, I could not find any that looked like what he was doing, particularly since he doesn't lose consciousness or space out at all. When I saw yours, it looked strikingly familiar! Will continue the AED until the neuro consult on Tuesday and see what he says about continuing it or waiting until after the GI appt.

  • @jenzzx2 Well I certainly hope that it is Sandifers as Maddie grew out of hers. They were horrible at the time...However ironically enough, her 2nd MRI showed Cortical Dysplasia and Heterotopias...Both cause epilepsy...so far no seizures! She also has a horrible painful eye disease...She is doing well but has had a rough life thus far. She has come a long way! 2 months she get's her last MRI...Hopefully last! Hope all goes well. He is very sweet.
