This song (performed by the Pyanitski choir) was overwhelming me! I´d never heard such a magnificent sound!

In the early 70´s I heard this song for the last time. It means so much to me that I´ve found this song on youtube!

As for the beautiful "Steppe all Around," as you infer there are many "variants." For those interested, one common internet version can be found on YouTube in 1952410's comments to "Ivan Rebroff in Memoriam. Степь да степь кругом." Although the Russian (and hence English) lyrics differ from those heard here, they convey this famous song's tragic gist.
