  • what kind of wood is that

  • @josh24140

its 3/4" white melamine. it is thermally fused, which helps with heat and humidity.

  • Hey great Job

  • what kind of wood did u use? partical bored?

  • @GZReptiles malimine u cant use most wood cause it will warmp with humidity

  • dfgzdgzsfg

  • Does the heat cable provide enough heat? i feel like 3 inch flexwat would work much better. Not trying to criticize or anything just curious.

  • @twillis10 That's actually a great question! I use heat cable because I live in California... it's usually at least 75 degrees year around, and the heat tape heats up the reptile room way too much. The cable is actually safer, imo, because if it goes out or stops working it simply turns off.... it's doesn't overheat and melt like the heat tape.

Many large scale breeders use heat cable, but it seems more popular with gecko keepers than snake keepers for the most part.

  • @PacHerp Thanks for the great response. I might use it for my next rack, I live in Georgia where it is warm most of the year, and between the other cages and rack my room stays pretty warm. keep the good vids coming.

  • @PacHerp

I have known most of the top breeders in the in the USA and have have never seen them use heat cable in any of their racks that had ball pythons. I do agree that heat tape can be a problem sometimes, but in about 20 years of using eat tape i have never had a problem though. I don't remember seeing Ron with heat wire as well and i have known him for about 18 years. Maybe he has changed since i last time i was there, but either way. If it works for you keep using it.

  • great vid, please make lots more :-)

  • where would I find the shoe boxes at? do you get them online or in a local store? Do you choose heat cable over heat tape for a reason? I love your videos. Keep up the good work =)

  • lol Nevermind where you get the shoe boxes. lol I just rewatched the vid.

  • that is awesome!!!

good to see some else gets there tubs form the container store.

  • Great looking rack system!! That does save so much money building it yourself. I really like your idea for setting up the heat cable too. And cute baby geckos!

  • thanks for sharing! I'm looking forward to the building video...

  • I am super impressed!!! GREAT work!!! Maybe you should market these custom built shelving units to the trade???? Love it!

  • great vid

  • Thats really awesome. My dad is trying to build me a rack right now and I think this video will help.

Will you be showing any adult racks in your videos?

  • @zombietronn Glad you enjoyed the video! It took us weeks to come up with the design... it takes about 2 full days (16 hours) to cut and router all the pieces for 2 units. I plan on showing off some of my custom built adult racks in another video soon!
